Take this how you want, but replacing the intake requires taking off so much, it might not be a bad time to do timing chains and tensioners. The factory chain tensioners didn't have a gasket between them and the block so they bleed off oil pressure and cause slop and excessive wear on the...

The 4L60e can be built to be a beast. I've done a dozen or so now that have been mild to wild depending on what the owner wanted. People that say the 60 is weak just don't understand that if you modify the lube circuit you have to modify the hard-parts to match. There also about 3-4 different...

The 4L60e is one of the most prolific and easy to work on transmissions out there. Common problems for 2nd gear are accumulator bore wear or the tabs that hold the band in place fail. If you still have 4th its the band servo and it will eventually fade as well. A cheap trick is to pull the...

The guy I sold my heep to 2 years ago called me today. He's got some bushings wearing out and wanted to know what I used so he could replace them. The jeep has been trailing the woods of Northern WI n the UP for two years and he loves it. Of course I miss it and made the obligatory buy back...

I went to the local tech college for my autos degree, paid every cent. Was a mechanic and while working at the dealership I became the 'trainer' for all the new quick-lane guys and any 'fresh' mechanics. Got me thinking that there had to be more out there so I made the decision to go back to...

I only know more about them than others cause I work on them so much! :roflmao: I also got one free-to-me and like all things I own I research the hell out of it before I get it. Being a transmission guy I've also taken an interest in the hydro-static transmissions as they only come from two...

A JD x700 series or brand equivalent would be the minimum I'd go Tyler for what you're doing. I'd look for something with a geared transmission tbh but they get spendy. I would avoid anything that is "Big box store" marketed as they typically are spec'd to only last 250-500 hrs. I've spent the...

Yes, I aim for .004, but usually end up at .005 once I tighten things down. And even though you're using the jeep battery doesn't mean that starter is tired or wore out. That starter is undersized and thats why they have the compression release or the starter could never turn that motor over...

Those Kohlers are hard on starters even when they are running. I'm doing a tune-up on one right now. Key to them is making sure the battery is 100% and all electrical connections are good. Anything less creates a drop big enough to not turn over. Depending on age, it may just need a new starter.
