The 82 is different than the 5. It programs differently and operates differently and uses a different battery pack/charger.

Personally I think the 82 is fine, a lot easier to control than the 69.

I like the 82 a lot better. Still programs with CHIRP, so doesn't really matter what the buttons on the front do.

IIRC it was around the 97 time zone that they started to taper off with the 27 spline... It might have even been 96...

ya, there is a lot of intermixing of parts around the styling change.

my 97 has the early model door hinges, as well as some other items no one would notice.
