So the general consensus is no. The preferred method is a traction bar. I know I would have to do allot more beefing up, to do what I was asking, to put the shackles on the back bumper and was thinking of tying it in the same as the class III hitch as well as the standard bumper mounts as i...
I am thinking of using a MJ 44 in the back of my XJ. As most here know the MJ is spring under axle. I was wondering about keeping it under as my XJ has a lot of axle wrap and spring under should help. The down side is I will need more arch from the springs in order to have the same lift. I...
my little sisters 92 xj shifts slowly alowing it to rev up between gears, it also will not stay in OD on any thing but a down hill 3.55 axles 215X75X15 tires and a AW4. Do I need to be thinking of a new transmission or is there another possible solution?
jcw sells a shelf that sits above the visors for an xj, that might be a good option or I have seen seat covers that have loops on each side for a rifle/shotgun. keep in mind in some states both of these options are illegal. if you want locking check the police equiptment (galls website) many...
welcome ned. to better answer your questions we need to know what you want out of your jeep. how you intend to use it? how do you feel about a sawzall? how much money you want to spend and what is your end goals. oh and the search is your friend many questions can be answered there. as they...
how about a truss simular in design to the t&t one for the 30 but designed to adapt a full size ford d44 radius arm to the factory xj 4 link to make that swap easier. all one piece not a bucket full of small parts like the RE set uses. and it would be better if it left the radius wedges from...
I am pretty sure the z71's had the little 14 bolt not sure on the specs but the big 14 bolt full floating (ff) has a 10.5 ring gear the little one 9.5 and is semi floating (sf) and 33 spline and C-clips. 37" tires seems to be the limit on the 14sf in trucks probably more for a xj. about the...
swap gauge cluster to one with tach and gauges instead of large gas gauge and idiot lights. many come this way already. It cost me about 40$ for UPull cluster and new sending units.
I don't think that the coverter will actualy increase the torque to the transmission, it certainly changes crawl ratio's (i.e. torque coverter slip) but I don't see any torque multiplication from it as it just changes the rpm of the engine at a given speed. If I am wrong here please explain...
just a thought but if you keep the original plug and drill a higher hole, you have a higher chance of the bottom one leaking becouse it will be submirged? It may not be an issue at all though I don't have any first hand expirence just thinking about it.
I was just wondering about the same swap, but for a diffrent reason. I am thinking of swapping my peguot for a 700r4 and the 231c should bolt up but what about other issues, speedo? mounting? how about front half 231c back half 231j? sorry about the hi-jack
About the 3K winch; that is still a lot stronger then I am and I have still tried pushing a vehicle out when I got it stuck, so the way I see it, it is a big step up from that. If I had the winch I may throw it on and replace with a better one later but I wouldn't spend money on a poor tool...
I don't own any of AJ's products and have never met him but that being said, I have looked at alot of his posts and for someone that is trying to make a living fabing stuff he always seems very quick to share his knowlege of what works to us cheap/poor SOB's that build our own stuff. I have no...
this is not as "hard core" as most of these upgrades but for the people that still have the closed cooling system some of the Eagles (late 80's?) used the same presureized plastic fill bottles. Good luck ever finding a jeep one as they are a weak point.
9 days last week I wish I could pull that off even more so when it is vacation time. Now that would be worthy of a good tech write up... just joking with you. Thanks for the many great posts ashmanjeepx.
I was just thinking about this and was wondering if I did the mod to control the torque converter lock up would pull starting be possible? would it damage stuff? has any one here tried it and has first hand expirence?
