WTB: Slip yoke (rear DS) XJ

I got a hold of the part I needed If a mod could close this down.

    VW reliable?

x2 On the electrical issues. I knew a girl with a 95ish Jetta that went through power window motors and other electrical items like they were going out of style. Just buy a Honda/Acura, Toyota, or Nissan.

    How much??

$2-3k. I bought my 97 Sport w/ 150k miles two years ago for $3k (just a point of comparison). I would definately part it out. You could probably get another $1k+ out of the parts.

    Should I buy it?

For $650 that would be a good deal. I wouldn't be willing to spend much time or money repairing a disposable vehicle like that though.

    95 xj 5-spd, price?

That's high. My rig is comparably equipped (97 4.0, 5spd, 3.07's, 150k miles, and C 8.25). It had minimal rust (2- 1X2" spots). I paid $3k two years ago. I doubt that's worth over $2k in the condition you described. You can find a 91-95 XJ for $2-3k any day of the week...I would pass on...

How much should I ask for my XJ?

^ Yep...part it out. You'll have an easier time finding someone to buy a stock XJ with low miles than someone who's interested in a lifted one. I did pretty much the same setup with mine...I wouldn't consider money dumped into a 10 year old suv to be an investment (I'm not expecting it to...

    Is it me ?

It is you. My 97 XJ is more comfortable than my old 05 Jetta GLI for road trips....pretty sad.

    Opinions on VW GTI

The R32 has 242ish HP at the crank. The power to the wheels is not that impressive (i want to say around 210hp). It's been a while since i've researched VW stuff. It loses a lot through the drivetrain (Haldex coupler/a.ka. All wheel drive). I've read enough stories of lightly modded 1.8T's...

    Opinions on VW GTI

My complaints are possibly why the co-worker never asked for my advice :D. I had some issues with the build quality and dealer service for my 05 VW. Again...i've owned three (02-05) and take every opportunity to direct people towards higher quality Japanese products. I WON'T buy another.

    Opinions on VW GTI

If you're going to get a GTI..get a 2.0T...not the 2.5. I'm still a little annoyed that one of my co-workers didn't even ask for my input before they purchased their new GTI (i've owned three newer VW's). I could have at least steered them to a better dealer than the one they went with. I...

Serves them right :). You've got to have a screw loose to shoot things for the sole purpose of getting your jollies off.

    XM vs Sirius

I've only used XM. I wasn't very impressed. Sirius seemed to have a better music station line-up that XM. If i were to purchase one (i backed out on it a few months ago), i'd get Sirius.

    Target Shooting Qs

I like 1911's and H&K USP's myself. I've shot 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP handguns. If I were going to invest $500+ on a handgun, I would get something that could be used for things other than plinking (ex. carry, home defense, etc.). $10 for a box of 50 rounds isn't that big of a deal IMO...
