    Gas filters and tow bars

I don't have the link off hand but someone on here has cut an access panel into the rear cargo floor. It's a write up that had photos when I looked at it last year.

    need help

I know your pain. I did much the same on my 89, hooked the wires up wrong to the fan, got sparks then no start. Does it turn over but not start, if so it is likely the exact same problem, but check your B+ relay first. if it is good check the voltage from the ecu to the B+ relay. That's...

I Need Advice - Slow Power Window Problem '97-'01 XJ

not sure about the 2000 model but the late 80's and early 90's at least had a strange power feed. all the switches have pins that feed into two plates. The plates are seperated by a non conductive barrier, one power one ground. if you get corrosion on the plates or the switch contacts inside...

    caddy's thermal camera

Had a thought yesterday morning at work, I deliver papers, about stripping the thermal camera out of a caddy or lexus and sticking it into my XJ. Now I know it'll be a pain, and I have not only searched the forums but Google as well, and can only find two references to any thermal camera. One...

    Your Oil Recomendation

as for the oil type, I have a 89 XJ and I've run rotella 5w40 full syn for almost a quarter million miles with no leaks. BTW I don't think the engine has ever been rebuilt, so origal seals. I was thinking of going to royal purpel but wanted more info.

    strange rough running!!

yeah 287,000 is a lot of miles, got 350,000+ on my 89. :yelclap: thought about the valve because of the unusually load exhaust, if the valve is stuck open you'll get detonation through your pipes and wa-la that v-8 straight pipe sound. if anyone thinks I'm out in left field somewhere, please let...

    strange rough running!!

this is kinda a WAG, but could it have been a sticking exhust valve? or a bad rocker? :dunno: how many miles does it have on it

Did you buy new or used?

89 $600 bought 2 years ago 240,000 miles, it had been used hard and put away wet, now 350,000 plus ( odo broken) and going strong

    Thermostat housing gasket won't seal!

I just replaced the thermostat and radiator in my 89, and had the little seep to. not having another drivable car (amazing what a quarter million gallons of water will do to a car) I drove to town to buy a new gasket. Lo and behold when I got home no leak. That was three days ago and still...
