OK... so here's the scoop and the reason I haven't been wheeling since the last time I went to Calico :(

On the way back from Calico, the jeep got really hot... pulled over... had to have it towed to a shop and they replaced the water pump... all seemed well..

drove it home.. drove it for a week or two after and then it started really acting weird...

Checked certain things and realized I have a blown head gasket... grrrrr

well... I know that most likely the head is warped or cracked, so I've already been to the bone yard and gotten a new head.

Now for my question... who knows of a good shop around here in Orange County (I have to tow the Jeep wherever it gets fixed) OR... Do I throw a wrench party and barbeque and provide drinks and get it done that way?

I need to replace the head gasket, put the new head on (still needs to be machined) and replace the radiator as well (it's cracked)

Thoughts? Ideas? I'm desperate here... HELP!!!!

Steven

There is a good machine shop here in Temecula. I would be happy to help you swap the head and I have the appropriate torque wrench. Lemme know what your schedule looks like and we can set it up.

You guys are great...

Thank you so much for the offers...

Now that I know I got the support... I think I need to get together a list of parts...

Hopefully you can all help me with that as well.

1. Get head machined
2. New Radiator
3. New upper and lower Radiator Hose
4. Head Gasket Set
5. Spark Plugs
6. Spark Plug Wires
7. Replace all rubber hoses
8. Replace all valve cover attachments

I know there's more... care to add to the list.

Thanks again...

That would be a good time to replace all the rubber hoses and valve cover attachments. Oh, and a Kenne Bell supercharger, a Borla header and high flow cat and catback, flowmaster 40 series.............oh wait I was dreaming again, what were we talking about?

Added the 2 you mentioned above :)

I'd love to do the others... but come on man... gotta get the Jeep movin first :) lol

no matter where I have the wrench party or have it done, I have to tow it... will most likely be at my parents house in Buena Park (by Knott's Berry Farm)

Can't do it at the apartment... lol

Thanks,

Steven

Damn Steve! That Calico trip was last summer. Then we saw you pulling that head back in October (?). :) Your Jeep's been down that long?

I'm in Costa Mesa. Must be another bald headed Asian guy driving a white XJ.:)

I can get your head job down at my brothers machine shop, and I've got a line on Modine? three row heavy duty all metal radiators for ~170 or so.

Your brother shaves the heads of bald Asian guys?!?!? :D :D

#7120 head? If it's really shot, and you don't need it for a core, could you put it on the next train up? I'm trying to collect and section heads, and I don't have a #7120 yet...

Either that, or just hold on to it until I can come down to get it (I should be on a road trip late this summer, if it's not too much trouble for you.)

5-90

I should have a san jose <-> OC railroad running in a couple weeks. I have a couple dana 30's in san jose waiting on me.

OK....

so when are you guys available?

I'm sure I don't need 20 people there... not that many people can fit under the hood at once... Not sure what else I can afford to do at the same time...

I also need to get a parts list together...

so do me a favor... HELP!!!

haha

Gonna have to be a Saturday or Sunday... once I can get a date set, I can arrange to have all parts ready for that day.

I'm assuming this can be done in a day, but I am not 100% sure.

I'm still new to the Jeep thing a bit, so any and all info is greatly appreciated
