Moving to Michigan...with guns?

I start my first real job in January in Michigan. I have been in Kansas my whole life. I currently have a shot gun I bougth new..Honestley probably couldn’t find the receipt for it though, got it a long time ago. I also have a .22 revolver I bought off a friend.

From researching I will need to get proof of being a resident, and then register/have them inspected? I keep getting mixed info, I guess my main concern is I don’t have proof of purchase of either gun... will this be an issue?

Not gun registration per se. I suspect that all he'll have to do is get his handgun inspected, and get thumbprinted (insert tinfoil hat comment here.) I went through this in 1993, don't know what's changed specifically since. I don't recall that serial numbers were noted, probably the big thing was barrel length check.

I know michigan has some goofy overall length laws.

so you can run into some troubles with side folding stocks and the like.

other than that, no idea.
