Garrett's build thread

Oh Man...Seriously. It's Sitting In The Garage Whenever You're Ready!

If I was smart I would have asked you to bring it with you to big bear, I could have met you while you were in route...

Oh well, I'll be in your area next week.

And thanks John, I hope your engine swap is going well, let me know if you need anything.

Thanks Nelson, come by anytime, I need to grab those harnesses from you anyways!! I'll need two of them before socal fest!!

I plan on winning those shackle relocators from HD, those should be beef enough!

Ok I'll try. Also the harnesses I still have only forgot where I put them???????? They might still be in the van! I hope they are not in here

I appreciate your input Joe, and I have really liked working with your bender, it's a great product.

I do plan to throw some cross bracing in there like you have drawn. The B pillar will be done like you have it, the D pillar will cross in the rear slope, doubling as a spare tire mount, and I will be crossing up the roof in one big X. Then I will have some short braces at the B and C pillar, sloping forward, that will double as handles. I still have a bar to run on top of the dash and cross that up to the roof.
Pay of this will happen in the months to come tho, I am trying my best to get this thing drivable for socal fest!!

Sounds like an excellent (safe) plan. Glad you had it in the works already:cool:

Some minor progress over the weekend, even though a lot of hours went into it.

Got the tie rod, drag link, track bar, and upper 3rd link all fabricated, welded, painted, and ready for install. Got the track bar frame and axle mounts installed and reinforced.

Also got everything up front painted, final assembled the axle, and installed the new prothane bumps. I haven't trimmed the bumps yet, but they sit right on the bump stop tower at ride height, and from what I've read this will be pretty close to what I want. I'm looking at 4" of up travel, and the bumps should compress about 3 1/2". I ended up cutting a metal disk and welding it to the bottom of the tower so it doesn't destroy the bump, and then just let it free float in the coil.

Pics of full droop and full bump.

Also got the gas tank all strapped in, filler installed, and the fuel lines reconnected. Then sprayed the floor pan and frame rails all flat black.
