Dirt Bound Offroad Trailer - Build Log

Thanks, I am getting excited!

Went to HD tonight and bought two piano hinges one for the door and one for the roof, also got some indoor / outdoor carpet for the floor.

Little sketch on how I see the seal working on the pop top.

You might want to use a double layer of overlapping door seal type rubber (the kinda D shaped hollow rubber that compresses. Have one layer next to the angle on top and the other layer to the right of that but slightly overlapping, follow? That way you can cinch it down tight and then water has to get around both the angle and two layers of compressed rubber that forms a path like this: (Outside)__O/O¯¯(Inside)

A productive day today, met with Garret this morning and we worked out a good floor plan. It also involves making the back wall fold down into the bed to allow more standing room.

The main idea for this trailer is to have kitchen inside.

The seal i got was for a truck camper shell, about 1" wide and 1/4" thick. It should be good for next weeks run.

Is is going to be campable by the weekend?
Yes it will! I just got all the paneling done and the roof hinged, working on the lift mechanism now and then the back bed flip down.

I need to get the fabric still, but my mom is willing to o the sewing for me to save time.

SUPER Bad ass... I just bought an older pop-up camper to modify but this looks like the way to go. Mind if I "borrow" some of your ideas? I've been on expeditionportal.com lately and the cool ideas out there are never ending.

that sucks. have you thought about using plastic or aluminum? still light, but a little less prone to mold issues.
