Compare international Health care

Please explain in detail then why you believe a socialist program such as nationalized health care is inherently evil. I'd be interested to know why American's are so against even one or two social programs.

Personally, being a Canadian I look around me and other then the higher taxation(which I'm ok with) I don't see anything bad about our health care system.

I haven't gotten all the way through this thread yet, but I can tell you you now why I am personally against it. I believed in a minimalized government. It means they have very little control over me (maximizing freedom) but are also relieved from providing me with every little thing.

Perhaps I could best be described as a social and political Darwinist. Should people die in the streets? In an overpopulated, overcrowded nation, yes. People are born every day with mental and physical defects that should never pass the age of 5. But because of a growing socialist attitude, I'm being forced to pay for their healthcare.

I have a job. I pay taxes. I pay for health insurance....which I might add, I don't even use because it doesn't cover my acupuncture, which is the only doctor I've visited in the last 12 years...you know what they say about an ounce of prevention. I don't feel the need to support a country of disabled misfits.

Now, on the terms of individuals disabled in the line of duty while serving in armed forces, without a doubt this country owes those men and women something. If our healthcare incentives were focussed on providing adequate healthcare to injured military rather than drug addicted welfare recipients, I might see things slightly different. But until that time comes, I don't see how a socialized healthcare system helps anyone in a country this large with open borders.

But that's just one man's opinion.
