I assume there will be online tracking so folks can follow the race?

Ya, we will have an IRC tracking unit in the race car, which is a really cool way to track us as well as Spot Tracker's in the some (as many as possible) of the chase trucks.

Yes you need a passport. Yes you will see aliens and the gas is fine fown there.

Last I heard, we (us) still import some of our fuel from mexico.

dont leave anything small and valuable in plain sight of your vehicle, federales got sticky fingers. conversly, federales LOVE little tech trinkets like flashlights.

i know your putting together a couple chase team, but who is handling your fueling? do you have secondary pit coverage? like emergency only from someone like MAG7 or so?

chase teams are great, but the pro pits have like 20 pits spaced out for the 1000... cant beat that coverage!

Technically you need a passport to cross back into the states. I spent a week in San Felipe a couple months ago and came back across with just my driver's licence. I know several others that just smile nice and hand their D/L with no problems also.

I think an expedited pass port is gonna be about $180-200'ish.

The Pemex gas is arguabley better than you find state side.

It is actually very possible you'll see some pretty confusing stuff buzzing the ground.

We always use BFG pits for fueling and main pit support.
We did use MAG-7 as emergency pit support for the 06 Baja 1000, but I think we have much better support crews and strategy this year.

The way the course is set up, every one will be in a decent spot for a visual or emergency pit and then be constantly moving to clear the next visual check point.
Chasing for this 1000 should be a blast!

We were in the race car at mile 350'is of the Baja 500 a couple years ago and we past a local's sign that said "Beware of the Chupacabra"
It's so dark out there, your 60 mile from anything and you feel pretty much alone...

I felt a shiver go down my spine...lol

I will need to score a gear job or something to generate the funds needed to buy a passport and supplies. Anybody know anyone who needs gears or some kind of fabrication? I really want to do this but I am hurting bad financially.

John, you need to get a job with the Santa Barbara PD or Santa Barbara County Sheriff's. Every cop I know here makes over 90k per year (and I know a lot since my brother is with the SO).

You don't need a full passport ($100) either, since crossing on the ground you will only need the passport card. $45.
