Problem after installing 4.56s in 8.25--had to shave off/down three teeth

yes you can install a lunch box locker in or out of the axle housing. The locker has nothing to do with the ring gear. It goes inside the carrier. When you use 4:56 gears, yes you cannot pull the cross shaft after the ring gear is installed. that is why you install the locker first, then install...

    Control arm questions

I've gone this route.. 4 inch, 5 inch, then 7 1/4 inch lift. Anything over 4 inches should be long arm and NOT using stock upper control arm mounts. Either go equal arm length, long arm kit like BDS's or 3 link like RE's. Unequal length control arms is a nightmare of problems, like binding when...

Front shock upper mounts - stem vs. eye?

Oh man I'm sorry... I have the 5100's for 6" lift, not the 5160. The 5100 is perfect and I run 7 1/4 in lift. I seem to remember they make some 5165 in custom lengths but they have an eye on top. I was looking at the 5165 part # 25-187700 27.4 x 16.1 valving is 170/60. You would need to be...

Problem after installing 4.56s in 8.25--had to shave off/down three teeth

This sounds really suspect. I have 4.56 installed into an 8.25 and the D30 and no gears were shaved. The LB locker in the rear was installed first then the ring gear so no gears needed shaved. I can still replace the rear axles if needed and have done so. I have a Eaton E-locker up front which...

Front shock upper mounts - stem vs. eye?

I did try the eye conversion for some time and they worked fine only I lost uptravel with this setup. I decided to go to Bilstein 5160s and went back to the stem as they had a perfect length to eliminate the eye conversion. I prefer the stem only because I did not want to lose any uptravel.

Simple rear bump stops on top of the Ubolt plates

I did the very same thing over a year ago only I stacked a few 1 inch square pieces and welded them together - no additional rubber added. Its held up fine after 4 trips to Moab and some serious flexing. I'm using the stock u-bolts as well.

Running hot in traffic, everything is NEW

I didn't have a overheating issue, I replaced the radiator due to a crack. I bought a 3-row CSF on recomendation. Now the AUX fan runs all the time and it runs hot. I compared the CSF unit to the stock HD unit and it's clear the fin density is much less on the CSF - about 1/2 as many fins per...

CSF 3 Row Radiator the best way to go?

I'm just getting back to my post. Thanks for the reply, I should post some close-up pics just so people can compare. I got the radiator from a local supplier and the box was identical to the 2-row I received in error - marked with CSF and nicely packed. Just to give you an idea there is about...

CSF 3 Row Radiator the best way to go?

I would not recommend the CSF 3-row #2761 or even the 2-row (2760) as I have one of them too -another story. I did not have overheating issues at all, just needed to replace a stock cracked unit. I never went over 210 in the heat of the summer - crawling in the deserts of Moab or on the highway...

What did you do to your XJ today

Put in a new CSF 2671, 3 row radiator and it doesn't cool as well as the stock HD unit... I'm sure I'll be over-heating this summer. I can see there are less rows and about 1/2 the fins in the CSF. I wouldn't suggest buying this one.

Check out Iceland Offroad's new cutout flares

If you order I would demand COD delivery. That's if you can get him to answer the phone. His Paypal account was closed and he has many disputes logged with Paypal because he doesn't deliver the product when he says he does. Some have waited 6 months to get something. Some have not gotten their...

First time wheeling, now it's clunking

I've had this happen may times after wheeling.. It was either the control arms adjusting nut came loose - finally used some locktite, the track bar adjusting nut - again more locktite, or the upper shock bushings got destroyed or the lower shock eye worked it's way off the bushing and was...

    Detours????

In all reality no one here has been able to contact "Mark" nor received any information from "Mark". All positive responses are just speculation and wishful thinking. The Detours site has not been updated since last July. His phone is disconnected and he doesn't return emails. Everyone...
