Wisconsin Off-Road Vehicle Park

Hey all of you that are not holding your breath, how about showing support by joining or donating to the cause if you aren't already? If we all have the mindset that it'll never happen, it probably won't. Here are some links to help you understand the progress that has already been made and the hard work it took to get there.

Wisconsin Off-Road Vehicle Park Update

On Wednesday (August 7th), the Wisconsin Off-Road Vehicle Park, Inc. (WORVPI) introduced details of our Off-Road Park Project to an elite group of Forest County land holders, elected officials and law enforcement leaders at the Forest County Chamber of Commerce Building in Crandon, Wisconsin. Those invited to this private presentation included leaders from; Forest County Board of Supervisors, Sokaogon Chippewa Community, Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, Forest County Sheriff’s Department, Forest County Potawatomi Community, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, United States Congress, Wisconsin State Assembly and the Wisconsin State Senate.

This was a small gathering, in a casual and relaxed setting. WORVPI shared information (via a PowerPoint Presentation which will be available soon on our web site) and answered questions from the group. Those in attendance also left with copies of the WORVPI Business Plan, the WORVPI Feasibility Report and our just completed 32 Most Asked Off-Road Park Questions. As policy makers and land managers it is vital to provide these entities with factual, accurate information to allow them to better understand our project. WORVPI’s goal was to provide information on how exactly our Park will positively improve the use of the regional land base, assure the highest of environmental standards, increase local tax revenue and serve as a huge catalyst to the northern Wisconsin economy.

Wednesday was the first of a series of planned meetings to share information and details regarding our 10,000 Acre Forest County Off-Road Park. WORVPI has invited representatives from the major motorized trail recreation user groups to a private meeting (scheduled for later this month) at which we’ll debut our ORV Park Project to them. Additionally, meetings with all stakeholder groups have been or are being scheduled for later this summer and early autumn.

Elite groups sounds lastara . if this is supposed to be a public thing why is a select few all you share relevant information and plans with? Hearing this makes me hopeful, but it sure seems like your organization is secretive about all this. You want peoples support lay it all out there or make the meetings public and tell us about them before they happen.

They have two kinds of meetings, Public and Private.

Both WOHVA and WORVPI ""spam"" multiple WI Forums with info on their Public meetings and events (times and locations) and updates.
They are on WI4x4, they have their own Forum, they are on Facebook, MW4WDA, WI4WDA...Here. What more do you want for communication?

My only objection has been that if you want to know the details, you need to show up at meetings. It's the way they play it I guess. In the end I have come to understand the reasons why.

I undertand the Private meetings with officials. Every group does it, so why should WOHVA or WORVPI be any different than say, the Sierra Club? When the Sierra Club sets up a meeting, they don't tell all their Members, they just do it.

In a project of this size and scope the climate is highly political. There is a procedure and a process which has been developed to assure that parties do not feel alienated. Those entities with the most political clout are being informed first. See the list of organizations contacted. Over 90% of the land base in Forest County (northern Wisconsin) is public (federal, state, tribal or county ownership). It should come as no surprise that they were on the top of the list to present to.

In addition much of this information is proprietary and confidential. It would be detrimental to our project if this information became available to competitors, environmental groups or quite simply somebody with only their self-serving interests at heart. It would drive up costs and yield the project no longer viable.

You may not agree with the process, but a plan has been developed to introduce and present information to all stakeholders. You’ll note; “Wednesday was the first of a series of planned meetings to share information and details regarding our 10,000 Acre Forest County Off-Road Park. WORVPI has invited representatives from the major motorized trail recreation user groups to a private meeting (scheduled for later this month) at which we’ll debut our ORV Park Project to them. As in life, the general public is often informed later in the process.

Don't get me wrong, I have been giving wohva money for 3-4 years. I just wish they did better at sharing facts. I really hope they succeed this time

maybe im dumb, but wouldnt it make most sense to get this park as far south in WI as possible? that way you would get chicago traffic as well. but i guess traffic will also depend on what this park has to offer (terrain, rules/regulations, cost, camping....)

It would be cooler further south but down here you don't get that big of an area that's not a flat farm field. I have snowmobiled up in that area and riden atvs and dirtbikes all over, it is some challenging terrain and would have an awesome variety of obstacles without having to do a whole lot of work.

The way I understand it, if it actually came to fruit, it would essentially be the 'Moab of the Midwest' and it would draw visitors from all around...

Recent Stakeholder Meetings

The Wisconsin Off-Road Vehicle Park, Inc. (WORVPI) presented their Off-Road Park to the Forest County Supervisors Executive Committee last week as well as a group of Badger State OHV advocacy groups (AMA District 16, Badgerland 4X4, Damage, Inc., Forest County ATV Association, W4WDA, WATVA, WOHMA & WOHVA).

Additional stakeholder meetings on the horizon include; Forest County business groups (Crandon, Laona & Wabeno), as well as a visit to the State Capitol to meet with assorted department heads and legislators.

This sharing of information is aimed at providing factual and accurate information to stakeholder groups. WORVPI is currently inviting individual Wisconsin and Upper Peninsula clubs to attend an informational meeting geared directly toward their issues and questions. If you’re a Badger State or U.P. motorized recreation enthusiast be sure to ask your club president if he/she is planning to attend.

I see on the facebook page they are sending out invites for up to 2 members of clubs to come to a meeting on Saturday October 12 at the potawatomi carter casino. I might be able to get up there that weekend and have a place to stay about 30 minutes away. not sure if its ok or not, but if anyone in the area would be interested I would be down.
