Single best mod and why

lift, gears, lockers, and armor are a must ,but i think a winch is a deffinate peace of mind add on. with all the above you end up just getting in worse perdicaments.

Jes, you advertizing what you ain'tgot?! :viking:

I'd wager that you don't know what dangle balls are. ;)

Actually, probably my best mod has been the AtlasII I installed a couple of years ago. As Goatman pointed out 2-Lo is really nice and with the Atlas the loss of drivetrain slop is a plus too.

Well, for awhile I said it was gears, but then I installed a 2 low conversion, and I definitely thought that was the best mod that I had done. After stretching a chain in one year after installing lockers front and rear, the 2 low has really paid off, and I haven't stretched another chain in over 7 years. Plus, the ease of driving in tight sections of trail, and the fun factor put back into trails running mostly in 2wd make the 2 low a winner.

But, now I couldn't tell you what the best mod is. I could say chopping the back and making a Cheromanche....definitely a good thing, or installing a rear Tera60R....major peice of mind. The 2 low is still way up there, though.
I've been thinking about getting that 2lo conversion. I hardly actually need 4 lo all I need is the torque. Was it easy to install? Do you have to completely disassemble the t-case?

custom, permanent, hatch-mount bike rack.

i throw my mtn bike on there everyday, and don't have to deal w/ the hassles of a roof mount or a hitch mount.

i'll have to go with my winch....saved me a couple of times when i was out playing around by myself

Don't play with yourself. Play with others. :roflmao: :moon:

Lockers and gears are the 2 most important mods and also maybe some rock sliders. Having a least a rear locker and maybe also a front will multiply your 4 wheeling ability and turn a stocker to a rocker. :guitar:

In my old woody, had to be the flip down tv/VCR nothing like watching porn while your trying to put ball joints in the knuckle that broke off ur d44 while flogging on helicopter pad...
my new rig....has to be the metal flake bassboat paint job....I'm the envy of every cutlas on dubs now......

depends...

I love my tube rocker replacements. I love my suspension setup right now, but so far, the most useful mod I've done is choppin the back off.

just today, I was usin the XJ as mobile scaffolding. saved me a TON of time and effort!

REP 8000 in the front. I've been stuck many a time were its' saved my ass. High lift and extra cable comes in second were my headlights are out of sight and I'm not interested in diving for the winch.

Yeah, it's easy to install. You don't have to totally disassemble the t-case, the input and planetary can stay in, everything else comes apart. The NP231 is an easy case to work on, even if you've never done it before. Just look at things very carefully as it comes apart, and then put it back like it was.

i said CB earlier, and now that i think about it, upgrading from a 2wd ranger to a 92' 4x4 xj was probably my best mod yet... (had them both for about 2 weeks, hence XJ_Ranger):D

Garmin GPS.

Now I don't have to wait for someone to tell me where to go, 'cause I already know how to get there!!!

;-P

Just out of curiosity... What's the single best mod you've done to your XJ and why?
