RoM 2010

Ok I am sure some of you thought this idea was dead... Well we have been out thinking and now want to see what you all think about it.

NAXJA Red River Chapter's 3rd Annual Rides of March
Barnwell Mountain Recreational Area
XJ's and MJ's ONLY
Closed Event*
Admission:
Prices are per rig. Fees include: Gates Fees and Camping*, 1 Event T-Shirt, 1 Event Sticker, 1 Chili Cook-Off Ticket, 2 Raffle Tickets and a Laminated Color Map of BMRA.
Additional T-Shirts, Stickers, Cook-Off Tickets, Maps and Raffle Tickets will be available.

Events:
Each event will have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. Prizes awarded to each place. Points will
also be awarded to each driver/spotter team in every event. The top 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams in points will also receive prizes.

Blind Mans Run:
This will be an at will event and only for fun. You don’t not have to compete in it nor does it have a bearing on your score for the events on Saturday. The driver will be blind folded and has to trust on the eyes and direction of their spotter. This will take place on flat ground in a roped off course with no obstacles. Points will be deducted for going out of bounds and backing up.

RTI Ramp:
RTI Ramp scoring will take place when the safety inspection is done. The ramp will be at 20*. All wheels must remain in contact with the ground/ramp. The distance the vehicle can travel up the ramp without loosing contact with the ground is measured from the leading edge of the ramp itself to the point on the ramp just below the center of the hub of the wheel on the ramp. The distance is measured up the ramp and on the ramp, not to the actual hub of the wheel. That number is the divided by the vehicles wheelbase and then multiplied by 1000 to calculate the average. For example if a vehicle with a 81 inch wheelbase traveled 59 inches up a 20 degree ramp then the RTI would be calculated as: 59 divided by 81 x 1000 = 728 (rounded down).

ChiaSpeed:
Timed race that travels through trails of BMRA. The course will be on trails rating from 1 to 3. Fastest times in each class wins. Each team will be released at five (5) minute intervals. If you are not able to complete the course due to breakage or what ever other reasons, points will be awarded for how far on the course you have traveled. Extrication teams will be set up through out the course to help recover your vehicle and clear up the trails.

Rock Crawl:
A “Points by Distance” trip through the rock garden of BMRA. The farther you go in the rock garden, the more points you acquire. Each driver/spotter team will earn ten (10) points for every four (4) feet you travel.

Chili Cook-Off:
Chili must be home made or cooked on site, not store bought or canned chili. The person who made the chili must be present a ROM to win chili cook-off. Voting will take place by silent vote. Ballots will be handed out, one ballot per ticket, and every one will write down their top three (3) choices of chili.

Sunday Morning Poker Run:
Yes a good old fashioned poker run around BMRA. The run will start at the pavilion and there will be stations set up all over BMRA where each team can collect an envelope containing a playing card. Once a team gets five (5) envelopes they will return the pavilion where an official will open the envelopes and record the teams poker hand. When all teams have returned with their poker hands, highest hand wins.

Raffle
Raffle is open to anyone attending the RoM and tickets will cost only $2.00 a piece.

Safety Requirements and Equipment List
Safety requirements and equipment will be strongly enforced. Each vehicle will be inspected during registration. Anything found on a vehicle that does not pass the specified requirements will FAIL the team. Each team that fails the inspection has only ONE chance to correct the violation(s) and re-register. If the team fails twice, they will not be allowed to compete.

Visibly charged fire extinguisher (BC or ABC) placed within reach of driver.
First aid kit.
Adequate spare tire, jack and lug wrench.

Ok here is the course I have in mind for ChiaSpeed. It will go on main roads, a couple of 2's and one 3. I know on the color maps it says that Omega is ATV only but Chia lead us down it and there were no signs posted other wise.

Any idea on a date yet?

So anyone have any more ideas?

What is our target for attendance numbers? (Read this- How many pre registrations must we sell to make this work?) Also it will take a lot of us to run these types of events, so we will have to draw a large crowd to make it work. Otherwise we may have a lot of people working events and no one competing in them. I am assuming we are going to try to get NAXJA members from all over the country to attend..... do we have a market strategy to make this happen yet?

Yes we have been working on a marketing strategy for this... Still in the works though. And we are trying for a min. of 30 rigs. We are going to try and make this an XJ/MJ only event, not just for NAXJA members but any NAXJA member from anywhere are welcome. We will start posting on other forums as soon as we are ready. I know we will need people to work the events but some of the people working them can still compete we will just have to rotate them out.

Good luck with that one.

Not just yet... I just told JR I will start working on that next week. Plus I will hit a few local 4X4 shops around here and see what they will be willing to do.
