A friend of Mark and I decided to sell his XJ he had some trouble out of. Each time it seemed to be fixed the problem would pop back up. He did all the stuff everyone recommends like check all the cables and grounds, new CPS, battery condition etc.

He decided to sell the XJ and a guy came to look at it and they made a deal. Unfortunately, the no start issue resurfaced again. He called me Friday and picked my brain. I got a hold of Mark and told him we'd come over and help figure out the issue.

Mark and I showed up and we swapped a spare starter on with no change. You would turn the key, needles would sweep on the gauges and nothing would happen. No clicking or anything. You could jump the starter so we had a connection or switch issue.

We were stumped so Mark called rredalty (Matt) and picked his brain. He said the neutral safety switch or the column switch could be suspect and he gave us a way to test the neutral safety switch by jumping the B & C wires on the plug. Sure enough, that was it.

A call to a local auto parts store found a neutral safety switch in stock for $206. He didn't want to keep spending money on the XJ that needed to be sold.

This is where my day changed. I just came to help diagnose but ended up buying a Jeep. He had it sold for a lot more than could afford but in the end made me a deal that I couldn't refuse. Mark said if I hadn't jumped on it, he would have. I feel guilty only giving a fraction of what he could get out of it. FYI, the other guy wasn't a Jeep nut and was made aware of the no start issue. So he wasn't as interested as he once was.

Since it was mine, we bypassed the neutral safety switch and drove away. Here are a few pictures of my new 1994 XJ Country.

I feel good getting such as good deal on an XJ that has a lot of work done to it.

Good looking ride. As for the NSS, I'm sure you already know, but they're very easy to disassemble, clean, regrease and put back together. I've fixed a couple of them like that.

Nice Ed! New daily driver?

Yep, new DD. My wife approves but has already said it stays stock. I can't wait to see what kind of mileage it gets.

Honeycombs are back (for now).

192,000 on the odometer but the engine was replaced with a Groomes engine and I think it has 40,000 on it. I work with Travis so I'll get the scoop from him.

It has a 8.25 rear, AW4, NP231. New floors above the muffler, new rubber floor mat, all the dash lights work. It's nice.

That's a beaut! I'm also curious what sort of mileage you get...

I need to figure out what wheels would look good on it.

If you want to go to 16" tires I might be talked into selling my set of SilverStars.

Congrats! Looks nice!

Nice jeep ed!

honeycombs bring the suck when it comes to cleaning them!
