Important

We are spending it all on the Viagra as our health insurance costs so much so you guys can all stay on your parents.

I don't understand this comment. Care to elaborate?

Health insurance costs are a direct reflection of the health of the majority of the nation. I don't see millennials being the largest contribution to this problem you have.

So I go into o’Reilly and they guy asked if I needed help. I said, just point me toward the air filters I need to hack something together. He doesn’t and instead asks what I have. I tell him and tell him there is no air filter system l. Just a throttle body and nothing else. So I need to build something. He then gives me a part number and says the cheapest air filter he has for it is 13 bucks.

A typical rectangle filter. I said no you’re not hearing me. I have nothing to put that into. I need to make something work. He says I’m not really sure what you need but it’s probably going to have to be something you get OE. I then look over his shoulder and see all the little parts to build my own. I walk over there and he can’t seem to comprehend what I’m asking for. Thankfully the phone rings and he answers. The next guy say you can come behind the counter if you want and pick the parts you need. 5 mins later I was outta there

I think it's funny when you go and buy just a simple oil filter and they have to ask you if it's 2wd or 4wd. I swear there needs to be an automotive test they need to take before being hired. My 12 year old son probably knows more than most working at stores here in town.

The autozone down the street almost has a coffee cup for me.

When I cut the front off the popcan and put the custom radiator in it, they let me go in the back and look for hoses that i thought would fit.

mac 'I can run the computer better than them tho' gyvr

Online ordering and store pickup is the best thing AAP ever did. I don't have to play the 2/4wd game with the counter monkeys anymore unless it's a guessing game part like random hoses or shocks. Then I just go behind the counter to the paper books.

It sucks, but those questions help determine what parts they carry.

I go to a good old fashioned auto parts store, the owner is behind the counter and they are knowledgeable. Most of the repair shops buy their parts there also the auto parts store delivers to them. They sell me parts at the discounted price.
Piss on those chain stores and their trained monkeys.

Yep, the local NAPA store. The owner waits on me, gives me the discount price, and will let me look behind the counter. He also sometimes comes up with better ideas for me, like when I was gonna order YJ brake lines for the added length. He says "did you know NAPA makes XJ ones that are 4" longer?" Who knew?

I think they are the same part number as the YJ lines...

mac ‘heh’ gyvr

Could be. they did have a sticker saying only to be used with a lift. Not sure how much difference the YJ ones are, but these fit like a glove.

I hate having to argue with the parts store people. But luckily I have 2 advance autos within a half mile from my shop (one was a carquest before, on the road the divides the towns). The closer one I've stopped going because the manager insisted on micromanaging MY purchases. Apparently seeing me pull up in a jeep, and buying 15w40 and a 51585 filter didn't sit well with him, even after I explained why I was buying what I was.

The other store handles my buddy's commercial account and they go above and beyond to help people out. I still order everything 30% off online though, sometimes while in the store

I was about to post a question here about batteries and then I could already see Josh posting "post it in tech!". Should've got the Red too when Mac showed us at Redbird.

Also, I found going cheap on emergency gear (jump starter) can really bite you in the ass.

Whats that part number?

I've used brake lines as limiting straps for years. May switch it up on this build.
