Ok so I am fimilar with this thread about the NRA's overzealous predictions http://naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=965222, but I was curious what everone's thoughs were on Obama and his real ablity to get any gun control laws signed if elected. I have the following info from http://www.ontheissues.org/Gun_Control.htm Now its obvious that McCain is the gun friendly candidate, but what's the reality of what eithor candidate would get passed so far as gun laws/repeals.

but I was curious what everyone's thoughts were on Obama and his real ability to get any gun control laws signed if elected.
Obama's anti-gun, no news flash/big deal there.
He couldn't change the constitution, and wouldn't try.
There would probably be another "Brady" style law enacted.

There are a lot of things he cold do with little to no help from congress.
Examples:
Change the law on gun dealers. Example: Make an FFL so expensive that no-one can afford one. The Clinton admin. raised the renewal fee, and over 50% of the registered dealers let their licenses lapse.
Change the TAX RATE on firearms/ammunition. How much shooting would you do if ammo cost 4X as much? 10X? The highest rate I've ever heard proposed as law was 1000%(help from congress needed on this one)
Give ATFE a free hand to do as they please. ATFE had a field day under Clinton(it was BATF then) Now they could do the same crap and have it fall under homeland security.
And of course, install judges who will write/enforce their own laws/view of the law.

Want to see what the President can do without consulting congress? Research this: Why is Russian 7.62X39 military surplus ammo unavailable in the United States?

Hints: "steel core", "pistol"

Sarah Palin on "Gun Control".

Take a good solid stance
Take a good sight picture
Control your breathing
Squeeze the trigger

I think he would try.

He would wait untill the next nut job takes out an amish school house and in the two or three days afterward rush laws through the democratic house, and get signed by the president Os..bama, and bam now we have to register everything that can send a projectile...
next up "community government owned weapons storehouses for hunters"
Then they take your guns.
