-not familiar with pirate... ARRRRRRR!!!!!!! they are bias ply's the cracks are still leaking. Its slow... i figure the plys have seperated at this point.. and a tube is my only option -or- to keep them aired up about every three days. (not too bad) i had thought about the tube thing, but...

    Leaking tires.

I have a set of TSL Swampers that has been leaking for about a year. I always thought it was from too much crap around the bead, and didn't worry too much about it. but I ttried to fix them yesterday, and there is air coming out from a few cracks in each tire's sidewall. those cuts that you get...

    Rear Hatch allignment

I broke my fiberglass hatch and replaced it.. but the new one has an allignment issue-- its hitting one of the taillights, and its about an inch away from the other.. How do you align it? also.. Should I keep it? When I went to remove the rusty latch and put in my key cylinder I managed to...

Why keep the stock air box? I want to put in a 2nd battery there. Can't I just connect the hoses?

    Painting advice needed

Living in California, and working on a trail jeep (which I assume this is since you are not fixing the dents) I wouldn't worry too much about rust. I say this living in Vermont where they pave the roads with salt, and I drive my 88 Jeep a lot. I would try to push out the rocker damage with a...

    slow start, possible electrical

It sounds like a really dirty or otherwise non-functioning CPS.. its a pain to replace, but I think that could be the culprit... low RPMs sound to me like the engine doesn't know how fast its running, and the alt isn't charging enough. One thing to think about is that lots of new cars these...

Dana 18 and 20 series transfer case

The d18 is a passenger side drop.. front and rear Not sure about the 20. Do you have pics of your doubler posted somewhere? I'm interested. thanks, bc

    slow start, possible electrical

I would look to a poorly charging alternator and a mostly dead battery. the fuel delivery is dependant on a good charge... but at the same time, being able to race the motor almost precludes all of that since you need to get power to the fuel pump to do any of it. Have you gone around and...

Engine Mount Bolts Torn out of the Engine

4 liter? they are holes that a bolt runs through if I'm not mistaken... If the threads are wasted.. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to run a longer bolt out through the ends or someting like that.. -looking forward to the pictures -bc

Dana 18 and 20 series transfer case

A related Question.. is there a way to run a centered rear diff and an 18? its hard to find offset rear ends that can hold their mustard withour spending a million. or.. is there a way to give an 18 a center output shaft? -bc

seeing If a tire holds air?

Has anyone had issues with using tires that were on a pinch-type beadlock and running them on regular wheels? I re-mounted a set and three of the four leak.. they'll all hold air for a day or three, but after a week, only one is off the rim. I was going to try bead sealant (the goo above), but...

    Give me a reason....

I have too much travel to use it like that. What do you guys think about a James Bond - style bumper? Maybe a winch that pops up from mowhere.. or a spare tire that swings itself out? ... or up!

I know what you did last winter, spring, summer and early fall.

:anon: In my own defense.. I would worry about brakeing hard from speed and the passenger side wanting to twist forward with the wheel. Without the upper on that side there is little except the torsional resistance of the axle tube itself to stop it.. right? Until these pics, it wasn't clear...

    Give me a reason....

I like the tubing bender idea.. but how practical is that on the trail? Should I make it removeable for the sake of weight? Or design it to remove U-joints as well?

    Tube for boxed in rockers

They are tapped and bolted in to the joint where the sheet metal overlaps, and in back to just in front of the rear spring perches, gusseted onto that metal as well. I can remove them in about an hour if needed. Its just not enough to take the hard hits over and over.... Maybe I'm just asking...

    Tube for boxed in rockers

Nice website- You attatched to a 'cage.. big difference if you don't have one. I also stuck my sliders out further to avail myself of a step If I need to walk around the truck in the mud, and to help protect the doors from trees. (that was back before I realized that trees don't always grow up...

I know what you did last winter, spring, summer and early fall.

I wonder about the upper link. What is the attatchment point to the axle? Did you weld-in or bolt to the cover attatchment points? Have you ever worried about twisting the passenger side axle tube? It seems like with Hydraulic steering you could over torque the passenger side tire and cause...

    Tube for boxed in rockers

-also, I am a firm believer that welding to a cherokee is a bad idea.. Yes I have done it... but there just isn't enough material anywhere to weld securely to. It should be bolted to unless it's not practical.
