IslanderOffRoad's Axle Swap Thread

The lowers should still have an adjustment at the frame end with the bolt. That is how caster is adjusted with stock arms. Loosen the arm bolt and adjust forward all the way in the slot. That will effectively push the lower farther forward. Increasing your caster angle.

I was under the impression caster was not adjustable on stock xj's. I'll give this a try

I always use the machined flat spot where the lower balljoint sits. put a straight edge on it and measure that with your angle finder.

you also need to put the angle finder on the unibody just behind the LCA so you can see how far off from 08 to measure from (since its almost impossible to get it to sit at 0*)

Focused my attention back on the rear this weekend. Pulled the axle out, cut off the truss, did a caliper flip, installed parking brakes and a wizard flip kit. Then setup new brake lines and installed hd off road shackle relocators.

Rear axle is back in. Rear sits much better with the HD Offroad shackle relocators

Still need to torque down the u bolts... my torque wrench is too long to get in there with the wheels on and the jeep on the ground. Also I need a cable that will work for my passenger side parking brake. The zj one I got is way too short

Tomorrow, slip yoke eliminator. Getting close to done

IIRC, KJ Liberty pass park brake cable is plenty long.

SYE installed

Far easier than expected

Do mine please...Its been sitting in my garage for 6 months. You do it in the Jeep or off?

On

Hardest part is pulling the snap ring while under the jeep

Don't even worry about connecting the parking brake, it doesn't have enough leverage to even stop it on the slightest down hill. If you worried about a parking brake just invest in a line lock. Wish i knew that before i dropped 70 bucks on new cables and pads.

Spend some time adjusting it and it will work or you have no muscles to engage it :rattle:

Mine work fine on 35s on steep trails.

I've got a 5 speed so I'd prefer having one and need one to pass inspection in tx

I'm using wizard brackets and a caliper flip, everything I've read is that they will work great with this setup

Looking ng good! Really been digging these with the new rubi wheels. Drive it yet?

Since I need to order a driveshaft, no, not yet

I'll have to look into those, i have mine adjusted as close as i can get it, and cranking up on the handle still doesn't give enough force.

Have you adjusted the star wheel on the parking brake?
