NAC Guys - Pick me out a set of tires

sidewalls can blow out on anything if you are dumb enough.

im pretty dumb and blew out quite a few.

I tore the shit out of a BFG AT sidewall, they're pretty thin. It did take being an idiot and backing up over a 4.0 engine block lying in my yard though, I'm surprised I didn't kill one sooner with my bump-n-go wheeling.

i would just troll on craigslist and send people emails if their tires are still available until I found a good deal on some 31's....

You have iroks, your input on any tire conversation is invalid

valid point

well ditas tire rubbed against a dull rock on yellow jacket for about one second and did this

that rock should not have done that.

I have a stack of dry rotted 42" NDCCs that anyone can have free, sidewall is around 3/4" thick and they fit on blingin DUBS

Seriously though, I'd vote BFG ATs or (if you don't mind buying 16" rims) treadwright knockoff ATs or MTs. Friend of mine just got a set of five explorer 16" alloys for $200 and a set of five 265/70r16 (31") treadwright guard dog MTs (MTR knockoff) for ~$600 shipped for around $800 all-in. You're pushing $780 just for 5 31" BFG ATs on tirerack without even adding shipping.

pish posh my iroks are 8 ply

irok sidewalls actually suck.

I blew one out on a curb.

this happened on a dull rock too.

the tire is about a half inch thick there.

Its not like the OP is going to be bouncing his rig off of boulders or anything , the sidewalls of any of the tires he is interested in are all weak compared to swampers, creepies, etc. But they will be fine for him.

Didn't you do that one slamming it into a (dull) rock at like 20mph?

I don't think they wear as well as BFG A/Ts.

Pretty sure Dundy was going through his faster than I went through my A/Ts.

My brother's 31s have over 60k miles on them at this point with probably 25% tread left.

Guess it depends. My stepdad has almost 20k on his grabbers and they looks brand new. No wheeling though, just a few trips on the beach. At 50k my 31s were down to 25% and looked pretty rough but I was wheeling once a month back then.

I disagree with all the A/T love.

If you are going to do any real wheeling ... even "light" wheeling .... I'd suggest go to a good quality radial mud terrain.

The on-road handling and noise is not really that much worse than an A/T, but the off-road traction is light years ahead.

MTRs or BFG Muds are both excellent trail tires with very good road manners.

Get them in 31", slap them on your stock rims, and off you go.
