okay, how bout the fact that I've never been to a bar :laugh3: (turning 20 next month)

I do stay home from the movies and such fairly often because I need to put every last dime into my truck just to get it back going (currently sitting in a rather depressing 2wd state)

the dues will be payed, just can't happen now

I'm with ya there! For the longest time I couldn't spare any cash to become a member because all my money was going into getting the jeep going. I usually live on top romin just so that I can keep my junk running... it just so happens that this subject came up at a good time for me (still have a little b-day money left), so I can see where you're coming from.

it's not about "use"ing, it's about receiving help AND giving help. I feel confident that if someone actually took the time to tally it up, I've answered FAR more questions that I have asked. maybe I should be paid for my help?

LOL. Yeah, I have seen people that feel that since they contribute they are "owed" consideration. Not likely.... that is not how it works. Getting and Giving help is what the community forums are about. Making it possible.... that costs money. Giving Help does not equate to income to run the show.

As was stated above, this is a CLUB that has a web site. The web site is supported by the Club. I think it is pretty generous to allow just about anybody (that can behaive) to use the resources.

These boards are not free & most of our funds to keep this board alive is generated from memberships.

I am a college student too, I dont work during the school year, and I pay for everything(gas, insurance(auto and health), and every single damn part on my Jeep). This board owes you nothing, and you should be thankful that you arent somehow *accidentally* deleted and blocked. You are a freakin' cheapskate, with as many excuses as posts on this board.

Somewhat off-topic, but how the hell you do that? I work full time (55 hrs a week) for a halfway decient wage and money's tight around my place. I have gas, insurance (auto and health), auto payment, phone, pg&e, smud, rent groceries, and a gym membership... not to mention the moneypit jeep... just wondering if you could give any pointers?

I'm working 35 hours a week (along with school) and don't even have the money yet to get my truck back with 4wd. I'm sorry, but that's far more important to me than giving money to a club that will survive just fine for the 2 months when I can pay for a membership.

If really is on the fringe of bankruptcy then I might be willing to put off a driveshaft and gears for another month to help out. Of course if it was on the brink of bankruptcy I would also have second thoughts about joining a club who can't take care of their finances.

yeah, if you could tell me how I could make enough money for 9 months of school during 3 months of summer (and still have time for some wheelin), I would be HAPPY to drop the $30 on membership right now.

yeah.. i need a little help there too.... when i was in college i could barely afford to go 2-3 nights a week and that was with working...
Now I'm out of college and still can barely afford anything with a good paying job... just curious to your secrect..lol

You are too poor to afford to pay for what you use? OK, no biggie.

However, making such rude comments about the finances of (of which you obviously have no clue about) is just stupid. is fine with or without you. The crux of the discussion is if you USE , you should consider joining. If you cannot afford it, fine. Do not make excuses, do not talk about what you have no clue on. You are sure to alienate people with that attitude.

yeah, but that's not just 's facilities there. you would have a hard time convincing me that I am using anywhere near $30 worth of internet resources from each year. I've been using Hotmail free for years and Microsoft is still making billions. I bet 90 some percent of the internet is free (exlcuding porn ). If existed ONLY as a basic messageboard, with a few banner ads it would be self-sufficient or maybe $1 per person per year.

now when you start considering the non-internet aspects of , then paying dues seems very reasonable.

any way you look at it, $30 is a good deal for what you get here, I have never denied that. it's just a matter of priorities (food, rent, 4wd)
