Hello Folks,
While on my way to work, this is what happened...
-Turned on Air Conditioner and it ran fine, but then the radio started to cut out.
-Turned off Air Conditioner and the problem went away
-While driving down the freeway, the battery voltage gauge jumped from the normal ~14v to 19v!!!
-I pulled over to check things out, and now it seems the battery is toast. I have no lights, no power anything, and no start.
Here is what I did this weekend...
-Changed tranny fluid and did a flush. When I removed the tranny oil pan, I first pulled the tranny dipstick tube out of the engine compartment to free up the pan. When bolting the tube back in the wrench hit part of the starter, and sparks went flying. I should have disconnected the battery, but I was in a hurry.
The Cherokee ran ok yesterday (I did the work on Saturday, today is Monday) but now it's dead in a parking lot ~2 miles from work. I searched the board, and I suppose it could be a ground wire...but could I actually have fried one of those?
I could stop and pickup a new battery since I have no idea how old this battery is (just bought the vehicle used ~3 weeks ago) but I don't want to damage a new battery.
Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
