Crazy Mod!!!!

He's been thinking of going carb instead..... I've been telling him thats a step back but then again this injector pretty much defies anything I've ever told him so I'm confused right now : (

Cant Holleys interchange jets??? try leaner primaries if you are bogging off the line and richer secondaries for similar results....

I'm looking at the pictures, and trying to compare them to my engine... that one valve you mentioned *the one that has the tubing coming off of it, and which connects to the throttle body*, is that supposed to be connected to anything else in the engine in stock form? Mine is just sitting there with nothing attached to it, and it seemed a bit out of place.

thats the shrader valve and just sits there with nothing hooked to it......its usually used to hook up a Fuel Pressure Gauge or can be used for an N2O system as the source of fuel supply. JP magazine has an article this month on an N2O system they installed and that valve was they're source of fuel, somewhere in the article they listed the adapter needed to hook up the line. My friend just used the adapter on an Air Conditioner recharge kit I think from an R134a system???? not sure???

Yea they sure can. I got the Holley set just right on my Camino. No bogging here. Ive been screwing around with building pre '72 Chevy's for the last 3+ years, and want to move on to something different, IE: The XJ Jeep.

Ive always wanted one, but never really got around to getting one yet.

HOLLY BEJESEWUS!

Thats amazing, I guess the reasoning behind it wwould be just like a nitrous shot, air pushes gas directly into the air flow. Not a bad cheap mod at all, I think Ill try this this afternoon with one of the 5.4l injectors I have from the ford.......

Only concern I would have by adding that much fuel would be:

1. temperature!

I dont think the 4.0 was ever designed or intended on running that hot, the thermo must have a short life span.

Can i ask does that actually pressurize that fuel into the fuel rail or does it push fuel into the air for the intake.
The way it reads to me... This is speculation...
he is lowering his fuel pressure in the fuel rail and blowing that fuel into his intake manifold. his fuel distribution is not increased, by that i mean that his injectors are not sending more in, and if anything the loss of pressure from the fuel rail would cause less fuel to be pushed in to the cyl. the excess is then pushed into the cyl via the red top injector. the extra power comes from better vaporization of the Fuel before the cyl. and slightly more access to fuel.
If he kicks that switch at idle what happens? it stalls or revs high doesn' it?
the throttle response would be fast on the punch, but it can take a second to come down from higher rpm's?
Damn you people now i have to try it.

am i retarded?? why can't i download those vids????

don't panic, they are nothing crazy,

but when you get to the "click here to download" - Right click and select save as.
then open it as a file.

I'd like to retract my first post, holy sheet! The first vid in the sand didn't really seem that impressive but dayum the burnout one was incredible. Would be interesting to see this happen on some sort of laptop analyzer in terms of what is going on with the other injectors, O2 readings, exhaust gas analyzer... Does he notice any changes in engine temps when doing this? Has he pulled the plugs and noticed any discoloring? Pretty wild, never thought something like that would make any difference at all. It's gotta be just dumping a perfectly atomized charge into the cylinders.

How about the long term affects? engine stress? how about doing this mod on a stroker? would mounting it on top of the air intake make a difference? instead of shooting accross the air tube it would be a straight shot into the throttle body? would it make a difference? how about putting a "mixer bottle" on it and mixing the fuel from the extra injector with methanol or something of the sort... that way run on reg pump gas until you need the extra boost of the goods?

just a few questions and thaughts...

Im still NOT A BELIEVER! Its simply BS!

at idle the engine dies if he flips the switch.....just follow the link until you get to the page that says download.
He has had this mod since Sunday and apparently he was hauling@ss over at the local 100yd sand drag strip!!! We have a little group of friends all with XJ's at different levels of performance and he was able to beat all of them both on track and up the hill.He runs like a normal XJ without the switch.....
We have been thinking about different setups and one includes adding a cool can to the line going to the injector to help cool the fuel for a probably even larger increase in power from the cooler denser air/fuel charge.
If I get out early from work this sunday I'll be installing an injector in my '90 and also a bunch of the guys will be installing one in theyres as well, ranging through all the xj years.
I had 2 39.lb injectors left over from my turbo xj so I let my friend have one, we'll see what his results are. I'll be installng the other injector in my '90, I'd like to do this as well on my '97 turboed xj but I'll have to weld some injector bosses to the top of my intercooler otherwise I'll have problems with boost leaking. I already keep popping hoses and tubes at anything over 10psi I can already imagine that injector popping off and spraying my whole hood and catching on fire!!!! : )

I'm currently uploading a video but here are some from some of the local drag strips from the 104racing team website:

new vid, remember follow the link the use the "download" button to get the vid

in this video he just goes flat out with the switch on right from the start, this run was done in 4lo in the sand.

Look at the first 2 videos from my previous post from the 104 website...the ones with the yellow and blue XJ's. Both of those XJ's are running on N2O with the blue one running a shot larger than 100, now compare the sound of those to my friends and also note his mph(stock wheels/tires)......strange.
