1998 Cherokee XJ Limited 4WD.

Everything on this Jeep works as new or better. It was built to be bulletproof and inconspicuous. I wanted something that would be absolutely, 100% reliable, comfortable, unstoppable and able to drive anywhere without hesitation without drawing attention to itself.

Literally every part is new, is warranted for life from whatever parts suppliers they came from. The only things original are the crank, pistons, valves and transmission/transfer case and headliner. Started with an extremely clean 98 XJ and went from there.

The paint is flat obviously. I had it painted professionally using bumper paint. The point being it looks like a factory flat paint job and it's incredibly durable but godforbid you use it like it's a Jeep and smack something the paint can be spot repaired accurately, easily by yourself with the same paint in the flat bumper black rattle can you can buy at a body shop. Maintenance is; rinse it off with the 'spot free rinse' at the local car wash and it looks brand new. (The goal with flat paint is not to touch it.)

Hi flow radiator, water pump and cooling system. Runs at 190 constant regardless of outside temp with AC on at full blast.

The entire exhaust is new (Magnaflow stainless including the cat)

The entire brake system is new - literally every single piece of it from the reservoir to the bleeders.

Ram air kit.

New Motor mounts, transmission mounts, tires, Bilstein front shocks, Monroe load-levelers in the rear, new fuel pump (inside of the tank was cleaned at the same time), new transmission cooler lines, new power steering pump, new tailgate lift struts, all of the bulbs are new interior and exterior, new alternator, new starter, new battery, new oil pan gasket, new rear main seal, 02 sensors, new front and rear wipers, polyurethane bushings, new crank position sensor.

New steering wheel and clock spring.

New front and rear wheel bearings.

The entire AC system is new (receiver, drier, compressor, check valve, etc)

Tire pressure monitor system.

Leather done by a Bentley leatherer, with seat heaters.

Alpine IDA-X305 stereo system with Bluetooth, hands-free phone, amplifier and subwoofer in the spare tire. The entire car has been Dynomatted. All of the speakers are new.

Escort passport 9500iX system installed with remote mounted mute and report button. (It's there but you can't see it. It's pretty brilliant.)

Viper alarm System with two way remote that will alert you up to two thirds of a mile away if somebody's doing something to the car.

I also have 4 gas caddies that combined will allow you to carry 56 extra gallons of gas while taking up very little space. The truck gets 19+ mpg on the freeway at 60mph with the mods.

Speaking of which, even the cruise control works.

(Sorry the pics aren't better but I didn't really take these with selling it in mind, they were mostly progress for posterity shots).

Anyway, should I decide to let it go, what do you think it's worth?

I also have a new trailer hitch in the box. I was going to use it to drag a motorcycle around but never bought a trailer.

Forgot to mention that the radio is iPhone-centric. Has the connector and displays all phone/music/Pandora etc on the radio so you don't have to actually touch the phone for anything once it's plugged in. Also functions the same via BT without the cable.

Sorry about the iPhone pics. I know they suck.

And I did this so I could actually see if anything bad happened at night (it never has). It's an LED strip light. Crazy bright, nil draw on the battery.

Wow, that's impressive. I sold my first 98' sport that was mint for $6k about a year ago,I would guess you could probably get some where around there if you find the right buyer.

And all of the radiator hoses, and the thermostat, and the temperature sending unit, and the radiator cap.

Also have the bigger throttle body and trail jammer ecu.

The plugs, cap, coil and wires are new too. I used the copper headed jobs that are really hard to find. Idles at 600rpm without even the slightest fluctuation.

Just replace the transmission solenoids, pan gasket and fluids too.

It is clear to see that you have a lot of money into this vehicle. It is an excellent example. The thing is that people are not going to pay much more than what the average vehicle of it's type goes for. I would expect to see $5500 - $6500 for this one.

^^^ This...

At the end of the day, it's still just a Jeep...

Kudos. You did a great job on great looking truck. But sorry to say, you most likely won't be getting all of your money back.

Yep, Sadly I'd say look for 5-7k. VERY nice Jeep though, if I had money to throw around I would offer you more....thats the guy you need to find.

Put it on CL for what YOU think it is worth, see who buys it.I wouldn't give you more than 5 grand for as it sits, but thats just me cause i know what a XJ is worth.

Man I got 6K just in the interior, brakes and radio. :)

Right, and there are many XJ owners on this board who, while they didn't put money into the same things you have, have the same or MORE money in offroad modifications.

High quality lift kit $2500.00
High quality roll cage $1500.00
Suspension seats $700.00
Built axles $6000.00
New motor $2500.00

All those things and more, and still they have a jeep worth around $6000.00 at the most.

I think we can all say we love our XJ's for any number of reasons, but any money spent above and beyond normal maintenence on these vehicles truly should be done out of enjoyment of customizing the vehicle or by necessity to participate in your chosen hobby like custom stereo's, offroading, go-fast, etc...

I dont see any pics in this thread. I'm mainly curious why you replaced so many parts that probably didn't need to be replaced. I agree with the above comments, $6500 is what I see you getting cash, however, in the trade world you could get a lot more for it than you can with cash. Trade up! There's bound to be someone out there that has a 10-12k item and wants a good quality built XJ.

I pulled the pics for privacy sake. I had a dealer randomly offer me 15K in cash for it on Tuesday and it piqued my curiosity. I don't need the money nor do I need to sell it. The offer kinda got me thinking about doing another one. If I could get what I had in parts back out it, it would justify building another. I like to tinker and this thing is so perfect, new and reliable now it's kinda boring.
