1984 Jeep Cherokee XJ, 3.4L V6. 340,000+ miles.
Jeep starts first time every day, idles great, runs great. Stop at store. Try to restart. Nothing. No clicks. Electrics do come on and I can hear the fuel pump but nothing. 20 to 30 minutes later the engine starts right off and runs fine. Any ideas? suggestions?

No click? No crank?

Sounds like a heat failure. Could be the starter solenoid/relay or the starter.

You may want to check the starter bolts themselves. When the engine warms up the expansion may cause the case to loosen on the block interrupting the starter ground.

Not that it's related to your issue, but a 3.4l? The stock V6 back then was the 2.8, was this thing engine-swapped?

I thought the same thing. Always wanted to do that to Buster.
