Ok I think I have isolated my tranny problems to a faulty 2nd gear solenoid. I have a spare tranny. What I want to know is, would it be better/easier to change the whole tranny or just do the solenoid? Does anyone have the tranny section from the FSM? Thanks, Neil

I have an 87 4.0 and my AW4 won't shift out of 1st unless I let off the throttle. It will stay in gear past the red line. it only does it in 1st. I have replaced the TPS, checked the fluid and TV cable. Anyone got any ideas? thanks, Neil

Ok my AW4 worked fine untill today. All of the sudden it won't shift out of 1st gear. All of the other gears shift fine. It just stays in 1st gear untill I let off of the accelerator. Does it sound more like a TPS problem or an actual transmission problem? TIA Neil
