    Brake swap

I did get it all working. I did a writeup on my booster swap here: http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=104103 Although the pics links have gone stale. :( I'll see if I still have them somewhere and update it.

    Early XJ heater core replacement

Good write up. I don't think I would have tried it without the pictures. I started the replacement today. I'll have to finish tomorrow. I guess I'm a little slow. A couple of things. I had to remove the plate that held the pressure bottle to get to the blower motor. Two of the bolts just...

    fuse box woes(again)

My 89 Limited had several front end problems with the lights. The source was a connector that all the light circuits go through that's located in the area below the ballast resister. The wires come out of the large harness just behind the headlight. The fuse and the wiring were all hot. The...

    89 xj wont stay running

This happened to mine a while back. Try this. Try shorting the Ballast resister. It's the white ceramic thing on the drivers fender near the front. It gets shorted at startup by a relay I think for a stronger spark. After start up, the relay opens. If the resister is open or the wires to it...

Not Mine: Ebay XJ Auto trans Reston, Virginia

Saw this. Might be a good deal for someone local to Reston, Virginia. I'd grab it as a spare if it was local to me. No bids. Opens at $99. Ends tomorrow. Pickup only. "... Purchased new from dealership and installed in vehicle. Customer did not pay for work, so transmission was removed and...

    stuck in 4WD!

It may sound silly but make sure you have even pressure in all tires. One very low tire can cause the same effect as mismatched tires or trying to shift out of 4wd when you are turning. Binding will occur and make it shift hard from 4wd to 2wd but not 2wd to 4wd because there is no binding...

    Making my 2WD XJ 4WD

To steve89, Just go for it. One of the biggest and most important reasons I like working on my XJ is I can make it whatever I want with time and patients. Have fun, learn and forget the nay sayers. And post picks!!!

    Alternator and battery draining.

I had the low beams go out on my 89 while the high beams still worked. It was because a connector right below the ballast resister had partially melted. I had to cut it out and splice all the wires. You can see a picture of the connector here...

Upgrade of '89 ABS to '96 Dual booster

Sorry I didn't update last week. Sick 4 year old. It stops good now but I think I'll re-bleed the rear brakes because it's still a little spongy. I know the front are good because I had help. I did the back solo. I used the stock brake light switch. It did not work initially. I had taken...

Upgrade of '89 ABS to '96 Dual booster

I began resurecting my '89 Limited a few weeks back. Last weekend I thought all I had left was to fix the reverse lights (NSS) and put on inspectable tires. Then the power brakes went dead. The motor for the Renix ABS had died. I know I can have Jeep replace it under the Lifetime warenty...

    Brake swap

That is the connector that powers the motor for the ABS. Hook it up and see if the motor starts up. Mine died last week. I picked up a 96 booster/Master Cylinder/Proportioning Valve for $50 local on Friday. I've got it installed now. Had to drill a new hole in the brake peddle and grind the...
