    I want to weld!

I'm a big fan of the Hobart Handlers. 175+ and up. All 220v machines. I started with a Century 110v and quickly eclipsed it's usefulness. I was only out $150 (pawn shop find), but it still sits in my shop set up for sheetmetal. My HH175 has never let me down, and with a little technique...

Changed Serp Belt. Now I have Low Idle

Plug it in, loosen the belt and see. My first thought was the belt was too tight. Seems pretty easy to do on these things.

    help me out

Shot in the dark here, simply because I don't know if it's true for XJ's like it is for Chevys. Are your tail light bulbs burnt out?

    Exhaust manifold crack??

The APN one won't work on a '90 from what the APN site says (Bold letters even). I've been dealing with a similar issue on the junk wheeler I've got here. I havn't found a good suggestion as to where to get a better one for this model though. I'll most likely pull mine and weld it back up...

    4x4 question

I didn't think there was a non-vacuum disconnect front 30?!? Did the PO change it over?

    Have you checked the timing?

    Bastard Pack!

I've also read to use the XJ main spring only, and all the springs from the S10 pack except the main spring. They say a gain of 4-5" that way...

    Mig welder strong enough?

Save your money now, and look for something used or at a bare minimum a 110v Lincoln with a gas kit (awesome for sheet metal work). I've got a couple buddy's running the HF welders, and I see them sit more than they ever get used. The frustration of getting the machine to do what they want...

    Control Arms

That right there is a handy chart to have on hand... thanks for the link. I'm guessing that's a center to center measurement on them?

    Clicking in front axle or....

I don't know of one directly relating to your issue, but if you search on doing away with the vacuum disconnect I think you'll get a better understanding on how the system works. Also, it might point you at what "might" be the cause. A loose wire, hose, switch in the 4wd system possibly...

    Coil Spacers??

A 4.5" coil, 2" spacer up front will get you close. But your pinion angle will suck. You'll need different control arms (at least the lowers), and a t-case drop to get the driveshaft angle back closer to normal. In the rear, the hybrid S10/XJ mount nets close to 4-5", and then a shackle drop...

    Half door 2 door

Re: Hlaf door 2 door I'm planning on leaving the frames in mine. I'd thought about running two sets of doors (4 dr, so 8 doors total) and have figured out a way to just use plexi for the cold months. Still a month out on getting to that point though... Main reason for leaving the frames in...

    RC drop bracket install W/pics

Thanks for the closeups. I've seen the kits often, but wasn't sure how they went together to be effective. Nice.

    Parts source--banjo bolt, castle nut

The Saturday before Easter is not a good time to ask any parts jockey to "Use a Book". They just can't do it anymore it seems. I'd tried two separate junkyards before a very long trip to NAPA yesterday. Yards around here tend to pull the useful parts for quick retrieval--and throw away the...

    Parts source--banjo bolt, castle nut

mcmaster is indeed useful, but doesn't help when you don't know the size, thread, pitch, etc. I have found an assortment of the castle nuts on the HELP section, but have been hesitant as they are all standard vs. metric.
