Not advanced fab - but this is the audience for it

Don't know Man. I have a clean 2Dr '84 that I was planning to make into the C-ROKet; ultra-light weight, LS1, TH350, 500HP and under 3000lbs. This could put me out of the game for a while. I've got two little boys to raise that need their Daddy more than ever right now.

Except I think I could get more for the Jeep :)

I know it doesn't belong here CRASH but hoping you'll make the exception. Due to a pending divorce, I'm going to have to sell C-ROK the Jeep. I posted it in the classifieds too but figured this is the better audience to know about it. http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=89035

    front rear steer xj

Getting front steer should be pretty easy, I know my Cherokee came with it stock from the factory. For rear steer, maybe just try driving backwards???

    Cage material

and to provide a more uniform dimensional tolerance. The cold working mandrel draw process does increase the tensile of DOM some over ERW. ERW has a tensile of 55,000psi; DOM 70,000psi and 4130 90,000 psi. Absolutely nothing wrong with using EWS.

    Prefabbed tube 90 degrees?

Quick search on Thomasnet for pipe fitting distributors in WI. http://www.thomasnet.com/catnav/itemdetail.html?cid=1294825&heading=29860202&CNID=1220&CategoryID=1015&ProductID=1146&ItemID=10216 I don't think this exact fitting is the one you want but I'm sure you could call them and get what...

    Prefabbed tube 90 degrees?

When you say 1.75" or so diameter, does that mean you're using 1 1/2" or 1 1/4" pipe (1.9" OD or 1.66" OD respectively). In Sch 80 they have a 0.200" and 0.191" wall thicknesses. If it's pipe, go get some butt weld end 90s.

    4 wheel steering

Wouldn't you want to use a YJ? Cherokees are rear leaf. I thought the XJ rear 30 was for the TJ rear steer conversion????

    decisions...decisions

How much cheaper? It's $300 more expensive to start with. FarmerMatt's recommendation of the 60 being cheaper is based on going 35 spline in a 9 vs a 60. Yes the 60 is cheaper....... by about $300 (the cost of a new 3.250" bearing third member case).

    decisions...decisions

Is the rear D60 a 30 spline FF or 35 spline? I suspect it is a 30 spline and thus the 9inch will actually net stronger shafts. On the fronts, I'm not sure with Ford, but with Chevy stuff, all 3/4 ton D44s used full diameter shafts and some 1/2 ton 44s were necked down after the splines. If it...

    Quarter Elliptical Tech

Wonder where AirROCK get's 'their' air bags from? My guess; Firestone, the manufacturer discussed at the begining of the thread. Total travel range with air bags alone is also relatively limited. You're correct about spring rate and ride height. That is their appeal. Quarter elips really...

    Quarter Elliptical Tech

My longest leaf is the Cherokee main. Remember it's got an offset center pin by about 2" or so from the true spring center. I retain the pack with two bolts. The front bolt is about where the center pin would have been.

    Quarter Elliptical Tech

None of my noise comes (or came to speak of a "past" problem) from the roller to spring contact, or the roller motion itself. The roller is a sintered alumi-bronze alloy and the bolt is a greasable 5/8" Gr 8. The roller moves quite freely and quietly. All my noise came from the metal to metal...

    Quarter Elliptical Tech

From static to full compression yes, but not through the entire travel range. On droop, I have still spring contact (and force) on the roller for about 12" or more below static. Your air bag travel ranges are very limited. My front bags have a total of about 13" of travel but they're quite...
