Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Merle Haggard Tribute Concert at the Bridgestone Arena tonight is unbelievable!

We all pledge allegiance to the Hag!

I found the '88 had a dead battery so I will be trying to start it tomorrow after charging it all week. Go CTEK!! Oh yeah, registration expired in February.

I also drove the Grand to my daughters AAU basketball game. I really like it. I just wish the electricals weren't so sketchy. As I was getting the seats from the back I realized the registration expired in March.

Bought this one from a friend of mine last weekend

It's got a bit of a mutt lift. Rancho coils and generic 1.75" spacers, Rough Country drop brackets on stock control arms, Skyjacker Nitro shocks and a pair of Rubicon Express long AAL's. The good part is it's already got a winch bumper & cheap winch, Rusty's x-member & t-case skid and also their tank skid. It doesn't ride the best in the world but it'll do for a while.

I'd given him a set of wheels from a '95 ZJ Laredo over a year ago and he never put them on. So this past Friday I had the tires swapped over and they definitely improved the looks over the rusty and peeling steel wheels.

I won't be wheeling this one like I do the white one. This is now my DD and weekend warrior for FSR's and waterfall hikes.

I want one..... Maybe when Glenn starts working and has his own check to blow on cars I can buy one and keep it for myself.....

Saturday went to visit with Deanna's Grandma and parents in Sommerville, SC and then Sunday I continued to work on her yard and cut and burn under brush.

Driving past a hotel in Orlando this morning and I saw a family getting into a Defender 110. Turns out they are from Brazil (and spoke very little English). The left Brazil in February 2016 and have been on the road ever since. They drove first to Alaska, and then through Canada and the Midwest down to Miami and are now on their way back up to the eastern portion of Canada.

Heck yeah! Now that's living the dream :yelclap:

I don't understand how one does such a thing.... I guess I'm scared of not having a pay check.... :wow: That is a cool rig though!

The current edition of Overland Journal had a series of articles about how to afford this type of overland travel. Most people that do it aren't wealthy.

A couple years ago I followed a blog from a couple that sold their house, quit their jobs and did this. They drove a 85 Toyota 4-runner from California all the way down to the southern most tip of South America. Took a year to do it. They posted up their budget each month and showed they they spent an average of $2-3k per month total. So, $40k a year. They picked up odd jobs here and there. She taught english classes while in Mexico and he worked some job online. They would settle into a cheap little apartment for a month or so to recoup money.

Though, it was pretty obvious that their parents weren't broke but I'm sure they didn't contribute too much.

No wonder this Jeep was in the junkyard. Never seen anyone wire their headlights with household conduit before.

And sadly this one was marked to go onto the yard. Would have been a nice one to save.

That would be a cool Rover to own.

The old '94 is starting to run warm on long pulls up hills. I'm thinking about getting the 272310 NAPA fan clutch for the ZJ to help with cooling. Some claim it's a lot louder but cools a lot better. My worst case scenario would be to remove it from the XJ and use it on the Grand if it is too loud or robbing too much power. Since this is for my DD, maybe just a plain stock fan clutch would be fine.

I spent last Thursday evening replacing a freeze plug in my WJ. I've been babying this leak for a couple months and finally got around to fixing it.

I then spent Saturday afternoon rebuilding the PS box on the big jeep. I went to the Flats 2 weeks ago and blew the output seals on the box. I picked up replacements Friday morning. Got it all back together yesterday afternoon. Now just have to clean up the frame and engine bay where it puked fluid everywhere.

Ive noticed this too. My last run out to Knoxville was interesting. I'm yet to put in a trans cooler. I'm sure gearing would also help but I'm keeping to low hanging fruit.

The trans cooler and the ZJ fan have been on my mind the past few weeks. I'm torn on the fan though for the sound. I have enough vibrations and rattles. I don't need more sounds.

I would start with a fresh stock fan clutch. I noticed last year that my 95 would cool fine just idling around Harlan, but as soon as we started pulling hills it heated up. A new stock clutch solved it.

I went the HD fan clutch route on my Yukon and hated it. Never disengaged and was always loud. Tried two different ones too. Reviews on the ZJ HD shows the same thing.

That is the same thing I read. What is funny the NAPA 272310 is $37.35 while a stock XJ one is just a few bucks cheaper.

Wifey, and I threw the new D44 rear in with 4.56 gears. Dropping the XJ off the have the front re geared. For the price, I'll have the guy who did the rear tear the front end apart.
