Project Jevy - A sequence of events

You didn't miss it. I reused the stock truck TB for now. FAST wants almost $600 for their 102mm and I couldn't justify that. So, i did more searching and I found that Holley is about to release a line of sensorless billet TBs for under $190. Since I already have the sensors from the truck TB, its just a matter of ordering the housing for me. Only problem is that I have to wait till the end of august to ship, but that's not all that far away.

Here is the link for the black one.

So small update. I was able to fennagle the tune to get this bitch to run warm. So my buddy and I said screw it and I drove this thing to Pomona to get it to Leadfoot Offroad in order to fix the cage. This is proof that this thing drove, lol!

The jeep is getting the roof chopped and the whole cage design is changing, so that this way, if I ever do put it on its roof, I and my passengers won't die. Sooo.... no roof shall be interesting. It should hopefully be done in a couple of weeks. I will post pics if I get the chance to go up there and take some.

Also, before anyone else brings it up...... Yes, there is a sticker on my back window that says Penis. Apparently my buddy decided to put that on there when I started the LS swap and since the hatch has been up the whole time while I used the trunk for storage, I never noticed it. Then when prepping to drive the jeep, I had more things to worry about to notice it. So this pic my buddy sent was the first time I also saw it.

Lastly, 2.8L V6 and CommandTrac badges are staying!

Was the top cutting off part of the plan? I like it and I'm curious what you do for a top.

Eh...... kinda. It sort of evolved into that. The roof already had a large hole in it from a shitty job of an aftermarket sunroof install. this included them cutting out the main roof supports and hacking up most of the roof sheetmetal to install the drains. So I really didn't want to deal with that in trying to get it back to respectable condition and make it look decent. So the next obvious step is to cut it all out, so I did. A part of that also had to do with how shitty of a job SCAR Offroad in San Diego did with my original hybrid cage. I haven't posted the pics of the shit work he did, but its safe to say that if I ever flopped this thing, I would of probably died...!

He's not lying either, ha! Tire carrier is on the to do list, just need to pony up the cash for a dirtbound/JCR one or just build one. It's something that needs addressed sooner rather than later since a 37" MTR doesn't fit inside anymore and I don't exactly have a roof to mount it to.

I stopped by leadfoot on Friday and they were able to get more progress on the wheeling wagon.

They got the front frame stiffeners on and they did an awesome job. I am glad I had them do it.

Then one of the top of the cage. Cage still inst completely done. There will be a straight bar tying the B-pillar to C pillar lengthwise and corner gussets from the A-pillar spreader to the center longitudinal bar to help triangulate it a bit up front. Unfortunately, I couldn't triangulate it since my corbeau's sit really high and I am afraid to bash my head if I put it on its lid. Don't mind my ugly mug.

Lastly, I wasn't originally going to do this, but I just cant keep from sharing this crap. SCAR Offroad is a ****ing hack and a god damn moron. The more I tear apart the cage, the more it pisses me off that the dude took so much money from me to get a ****ing shitty cage. Here are a couple of pictures of this dude's "work".

This is what we found when cut the vertical tube off.

After much hacking away and peeling that shit out, we found the following.

Basically, in this dudes forever lazyness, he did not peel off the dynamat type of material and then welded the base plate for the cage to actual sheet metal. Instead, he just barely welded the first plate and then fully welded another plate on top of it. This is the type of shit that kills people. If I didn't know a little bit about fab work and completely confided on this dude's hack job and put it on its lid, I am super confident my passengers and I would of been injured.

Take a look at the C-pillar. Let's not point the fact out that it has like 4 bends in it, which could potentially just cause it to buckle in a roll over. Now take a look at the non-existent base plate. This tube was welded directly to the sheet metal of the fender liner, the inner quarter panel sheet metal and had a small gusset welded to the pinch seam of the quarter panel.

Lastly, this is the type of fitment I got when I asked him to keep the cage tight to the body and follow the contour lines of the body. This was right before final welding and it somehow got even worse after we welded it.

Lastly, my jeep had a previous aftermarket sunroof put it in by a previous owner that I took out, so there was a hole in it that wasn't covered. I didn't know which direction I wanted to go, so I left it open. During our conversation, I told him the jeep needed to stay inside so that if it rained, no water would mess up my brand new seats or get my electronics wet. Low and behold, when I got my jeep back, there was 1" of standing water in it and my brand new corbeau's were stained. After I asked him about it, he denied that the jeep was ever out in the rain and it had only "sprinkled" on it. If you look at the pic above, its obvious the jeep is wet..... The worst part is that he sent me this pic and then lied about the jeep ever sitting outside in the rain.

Moral of the story: SCAR Offroad is a hack, so **** that guy! His name is Nick Baldwin and is someone who blatantly doesn't know what he is doing. The unfortunate part is that he has kids.

This is the V-type notch on Jack hammer. Ultimately, this obstacle kicked my ass. Carb kept stalling because of the severe angle and I never made it up. Was pretty disappointed with that and this is LITERALLY the reason I came home after this trip and ordered an LS swap. To top it all off, all of my ****ing sockets fell out of my craftsman toolbox thing and that just royally pissed me off. Then I am not one to just throw a pile of sockets and keep going, so I had to organize them. Kind of pissed off my buddies, but yeah.....

You should of just had that Jeep club pave everything you couldn't make it up, would have been cheaper then an LS....
