Looking for mj info

My leafs were... somewhat thinned by our winter environment :gee:

When doing SOA is there a different or aftermarket leaf to use or do you simply just re weld perches. Also the frame on the mj... Is it an actual frame or some type of hybrid sub frame? I'd like to get as much info as possible and try to understand more of the vehicles specifics before I buy one. That way I don't go into this blindly. Thanks for all the info and help. I've tried searching some but evey thing points back here to Naxja. So I might as well just ask the mj crowd.

x2 on comancheclub.

when going SOA, most, if not all just re use the leaf springs and just weld on perches and shock mounts. and the rear section is an actual frame.

When I go the cc.com site it only pops up some pics then has a little box on bottom for web ring.... Am I missing something here? How do I get into the site?

 ComancheClub, good folks on there who are always willing to help out! If not for them some of those hard to find MJ parts I needed would still be missing from my son's MJ.

It takes a bit for them to get warmed up to a newbie but worth the wait.

Ok so here's going to be the main thing.... I know the mjs are only single cabs. I'm 6'2. How bad is it going to be? Does the seat recline at all? My back is trashed from an accident 5 years ago so if I can't lean back at least just a little it will kill me. I really like the mj but I have to be comfortable.

I dunno about leaning back, but the bucket seats in my 91 are super comfortable and the buckets in my 88 are pretty good too. Can't vouch for the other years and all the bench seats pretty much suck.

My MJ actually has a couple more inches of headroom over my 96 XJ, which is a combination of the higher roofline on the MJ and the shorter old-style buckets (in 95 or 96 they changed the seat brackets around in the XJ and lost some headroom.) Given the choice between an MJ, a mid-90s and earlier XJ, or a mid-90s and later XJ, I'd take the MJ any day of the week if headroom was my only requirement, and I'm 6'4".

The front is all integrated with the cab. proper frame rails outback, but they're still made of formed sheetmetal, not thick C channel like a body on frame truck. But they are fully box, so pretty stout. When mine still had a box I loaded it to the top of a camper cab with freshly cut wood. It sagged a bit, but handled it well. FWIW the front part is about 2" thicker in shear than the XJ frame. They're plenty stout. Reinforced LCA pockets too.

My wife is 5'11" and fits just fine in the cab. You can lean the seats back a little, maybe 15*, but then your head tends to hit the back glass. Might not be a big deal if you're using it as a DD/parts runner. kind of sucks to bash your head on the glass while wheeling.

i am 6'2" and have buckets. it got pretty cramped when i drove it home from kentucky last summer, but otherwise it isnt that bad.

That sounds good. How about the leg room. Is there room to keep your legs straight or are they on the steering wheel and in your chest. I don't know anyone with an mj to try it out. X2 on single cab ranger. Me and my buddy used to carpool in his. Usually a 2 hour ride home . It sucked.

get an MJ with an adjustable column. Dunno about anyone else (xjtrailrider is 6" shorter than me and feels cramped...) but I have a 34-36" inseam and I am perfectly fine in my MJ.

Of course, I have to use my standard seat/wheel adjustment... seat all the way back, wheel all the way up.

You should've tried mine out at the xmas party. Mine's a little tougher to get in and out of because of the side bolsters on my Mastercraft seat. But once I'm in, I'm fine and I'm 6 feet.

You should be able to find one to try out. We have 12-15 MJs in the SoCal Chapter. Or next time you see one in a junkyard...
