Does anyone know where I can buy a cheap pump to remove my differential fluids, I am not having any problems I just want to change the fluids without taking the covers off.

Any parts store should have them, I got one at oreilys and one at napa in the past. I got a small one that threads onto a 1qt oil bottle and a large one that threads onto the 5qt bottles.

Then again, I refuse to set foot in harbor freight so...

might be dumb but why wouldn't you want to remove cover?
You could look and gears to make sure they are in good working order
and tube of gasket silcone is only like 3 bucks.

I may remove the covers, I will still need the pump to get the fluid in.

I just don't feel like spending a few hours playing with the covers, I should take them off and inspect like you said.

gray rtv on the differentials is best or a tube of RTV Mopar part number 82300234 I read.

this

its worth the time. the extra 20 minutes that youll spend draining and resealing beats the hours you could be stuck on the trail/side of the road

Just put a drain pan under the rear end, undo the bolts and let it drain into the pan. A pump really isn't necessary. It shouldn't take you a few hours even if you have never done it before. The cover will only go on one way. Should take you about 45 minutes top from start to finish. Any color rtv will be fine. They really are not that picky. I usually use what I have laying around whether it be blue, red, grey, orange, clear, etc, you get the idea...... As far as getting the fluid in there. If you have any lift at all all you need is a hose and put it on the nipple of the bottle. You can do it with out a lift by lifting the body up with the jack to. Like this but I got mine from O'reillys http://www.amazon.com/Hopkins-FloTool-10106B-Filler-Refill/dp/B000EH4UXM

Thanks for the help, I'm going to pull the covers in the front dana 30, and the rear 8.25.

This way I can inspect for metal shavings and clean the covers with brake cleaner.

Thanks again for the help.

When you unbolt the covers leave 2 bolts still barely threaded. That way the cover doesn't go falling off and making a mess. I leave 1 bolt top and bottom just barely threaded so the cover stays in place while the fluid drains out.

I also follow the instructions for the RTV and allow it time to cure, I know most people don't however.

That fluid stinks so have a well ventilated area ha.

The harbor freight one says for low viscosity fluids and it looks like it would take forever to do heavy oil. I've been looking for a good solution but everything it's tried has either been a complete PITA or extremely slow, or both.

I bought my pump at a local hardware store. Though I never replace gear fluid without inspection and cleaning the differential out of habit. Its a great way to put the fluid back in though when you cant just tip the bottle up and squeeze it in.

That HF pump will work fine. I've used with diff fluid before.

Depending on the bottle/cap you could just the cap with a tip and squirt it in.. use a hose as an extension if necessary.

In the winter you want to crank the heat in the jeep to the max and warm it up for a good 20 minutes before trying to pump it into the diffs, otherwise it's like pumping peanut butter.

Buy some lubelocker gaskets and never deal with RTV again. Totally worth the 20 bucks per diff that they usually cost.
