M&G at Breck on Saturday, 11-20. Skiers and snowboarders of any skill level are welcome, and I'd be down to teach a little boarding if there's enough interest.
We'll figure out the details as it gets closer, but I'd like to shoot for meetin up around 9am at the base of the mountain (finding parking for everyone in one area might not be realistic).
If Sunday works better, say so. We can figure out what works best for everybody as we go.
So who's in?

i ride alone... and i HATE breck. I was a snowboard instructor up there for a year and got sick of the snobs, long lines, and b.s. attitudes.

I love Keystone. hence why I have the Keystone Resort logo tattoed on my arm.

I will have to commit to this closer to the 20th, but I would love to attend. I've been snowboarding once in my life, and it was a blast. Living far from the mountains prohibited me from doing much boarding. When I moved up here 4 years ago, I told myself I was going to get into it, and I have yet to. I'm fairly quick at picking up new skills, but if a few of you pro's would be able to give me some pointers that would be great. I'll be in touch as to rather I can make it or not.

Cmon Jim we still need someone to come that can have the coffee/hot chocolate waiting for us at the bottom.:wantyou:

X2!

Good for you, nobody said you have to come.
You might find that in the staff, but personally I hardly interact with the resort staff. I've met people from all over the world riding the lifts and such, I think its pretty cool. The huge lifts at the very bottom of the mountain are usually crowded but go pretty quickly, and then once you get up the mountain you can take the smaller less crowded lifts at the bottom of the runs.
I like to do Breck all day and then go over to Keystone for night riding, but other than that I'm not a fan of Keystone. The only good things they have are night skiing and the terrain park, IMO.

You gotta get up there more! Its a requirement for living in CO.
So you and Apostle would be in for lessons... anybody else?
I'd definitely be down to teach a bit :lecture:

I'll snow board if Hurley goes.
I started on a Burton 150 when you werent even allowed to do it on the slopes but lost most of my skills due to having kids and too many other hobbies. (motorcycles, flying airplanes, classic cars). Haven't been boarding in years so I don't know how I'll do. Might need a refresher Mason!
Last time was at Eldora on the ice and it wasn't much fun.
Anyone from the North Metro Posse wanna go?

Eldora is really only good if you can get there right at opening time. Around 2 it does get icey.

That being said why dont we just hit Eldora? Its closer for one, for 2 those who are new to snowboarding, or just need a refresher Eldora is a good place to learn but also have fun. They open on the 3rd and IIRC the tickets are around 60 for a full day pass.

breck resort sucks... the town is alrite to go shopping and grab a drink. the only good parts of breck are way up top. everything at the bottom gets flat to the point where you have to wiggle your ass on your board to get back to the lift. im personally happy that alot of people dont like keystone... more fun for me =) and keystones park has been rated one of the best in the U.S.

the problem i have with breck is all of the "rock stars"... in other words, all the rich kids whos parents buy them the "coolest" outfits and nicest boards. Its more like a fashion show to me, and a trend then anything else up there. I cannot stand it. You also get all the texans at breck that ski and snowboard in wrangler jeans. They are dangerous and I have seen a fat old texan man plow into a group of small kids because he was being a jackass and going way to fast.

Then there is the lift lines, lack of parking, and having to spend about an hour parking way across town, then taking the gondola up, then taking another lift up peak 8 or 9, then having to take yet another lift to get to anything worth skiing.

HAVE FUN! i enjoy skiing/riding.... not waiting.

I'm not a huge fan of Eldora... none of their runs really get me. Might not be closer to everybody. Breck is perfectly fine for learning/refreshing. Lift tickets cost a little bit more but IMO its well worth it, I'd rather pay $80ish and have a great time on slopes that I really enjoy (namely Imperial... 13000ft high :D) than pay $60ish and just be satisfied.

Town itself is ok, way too crowded most of the time though. Yes there are some flat spots at the VERY bottom of the mountain, right around the lift lines, but is that really that big of a deal to you? Its not that tough to undo a foot and push yourself a few feet... which ya have to do in lines and on the lifts anyway.
Yeah Keystone has a nice park... I already mentioned that. Thing is I'm more for goin fast on the really long runs than playin in the parks (not that they're not fun)

Yup, you don't get ANY annoying rich kids at Keystone. None at all.
And you'd better watch out for people wearin jeans, they'll plow right into ya. The jeans must reflect the light into their eyes so they can't see or somethin. You don't have to worry about them at Keystone though.
Just like all of them 4wheelers... they're all a bunch of rednecks tearin up the mountains and national parks, ruining the environment.
I've seen LOTS of people loose control or not pay attention and run into something or someone... in fact I've seen more at Keystone than at Breck, and I doubt all of them were jean-wearin Texans. Problem with Keystone is ya get all of the kids that want to play in the terrain park and they think that every little snow drift is a jump, even on the easy runs where there are little kids and whatnot.

I usually have to wait longer at Keystone than at Breck. Breck has more people, yes, but they also have more lifts, and larger and faster lifts to accomodate. I've waited in 30 min lines at Keystone before, its not like its some magical resort that only locals know of. I hardly ever have to park more than 5-10 min walking distance away from the lifts at Breck, other than holidays (which Keystone isn't immune to either). Personally I enjoy getting to ride to get to my run... more time on the slopes.

I'm not sayin I don't like Keystone, I'm just sayin that I like Breck a lot better and don't see the point of Keystone when I can go to Breck instead.
Once again, nobody's making you come. You don't wanna go, that's fine, don't go.

the 20th is a friday...

Sonuva... alright its Saturday the 21st, NOT THE 20th

Alright guys well seeing as there's some other get together on the 21st as well, I think we should vote... who wants to go Saturday, and who wants Sunday?

he's posted 3 times in 4 years and no one has replied in his thread. does it really matter?

Lol fair enough.
Alright, so Saturday the 21 it is (not the 20, that's a Friday, my mistake... of the mods could change the thread title to 11/21 I'd appreciate it)
We'll meet at the bottom of Peak 9 at 9am, where the Beaver Run resort is. There's an outdoor eating area with tables and whatnot, I'll try to grab one.I'm gonna try for a table towards the ticket sales side so look around there... my board has a sunburst fade on top and a white bottom that says "Burton", its not a very common board so I'll use it as a marker. There's also a rental shop there if you need it. I'd like to be on the slopes by 10, and those of us who know how will go on a run or two to get back into things, and then I'm down to teach the basics for a while (I definitely need to get a run in before I teach anything, I haven't been up yet this season).
Anybody is welcome to come, friends and family too, skis or snowboards, and anybody from those who've never been on the slopes to those that can do blacks with their eyes closed.

If you need gear:
I have an extra board, 2 extra pairs of boots (I believe sizes 9 and 10), and two helmets. First come first serve, contact me if you want in. Otherwise there will be time to rent gear when we get there, or if you want feel free to rent your gear ahead of time... you can do that at Sports Authority, CO Ski and Golf, or similar.

Anything else?
