Help! Disco rubbing on t-bar bracket

I just noticed my JKS Quicker disconnect has been rubbing my trac bar mount and has taken a good amount of steel away. I'm a CJ convert and didn't have a trac bar or sway bar. So, I need help with this. Is my trac bar too long? Look at the comparison picks that seem to show the passenger tire sticks out more. But, notice that the bottom end of the disco is further outboard than the top which should indicate it's not the axle, but maybe the swaybar. Can the swaybar be shifted to the passenger side (if this is the right move)? Would you save the discos are too long for a 4.5" lift?

Any help would be appreciated. I'm driving this thing 3,000 miles round trip to California in two weeks. The disco is self-clearing, but still hits. I don't want to have to buy a new disco.

your trackbar is too long or adjusted too long for the passengerside to be sticking out further then the drivers side. when lifted, the stock trackbar is too short and the driverside tire sticks out too far.

do you have an adjustable trackbar?

sounds like you A) need an alignment B) Need an adjustable track bar or C) need both

um, to me it looks like your whole sway bar needs to be re-centered. You can clearly tell the sway bar is pushed to the other side, hence pulling the disco mount towerd the track bar mount. That picture does not show any indication of trac bar problems. it just shows the disco slanted over.

edit: just noticed tire pics.. Hrmmmm On second thought... adjustable trac bar *Could* be the solution

I do have adjustable Rusty's trac bar (don't flame me, it came on the Jeep). I agree it should probably be shortened to get the tires even, but I'm afraid that will only move the bottom of the disco on the driver's side. Has anyone ever moved the swaybar within the mounts? If I could just get 1/4 to 1/2 inch portside, it should clear.

since you have an adjustable trackbar, center the axle! why would you not center the axle?

this will fix the swaybar problem. by centering the axle, the sway bar axle mounts for the links will be in the correct position and the sway bar will slide over in the frame mounts/bushings towards the drivers side and no longer hit the trackbar mount.

I'll give this a try in the next few days. I wonder if this will make it easier to align. Right now it's killing the new tires and Brakes Plus said I need offset balljoints. I'm heading to California in less than two weeks and am afraid the tires will be gonners.

Looks like the sway bar needs to move toward the driver's side. Measure the amount of swaybar between the bend and the swaybar bracket on both sides & if they're not even, loosen the bracket bolts & slide it over.
Either that or somehow the driver's side swaybar got bent. Should be pretty inexpensive to find at a JY.

the swaybar will slide in the frame mounts depending on where the sway bar end link mounts on the axle are located. since the axle isnt centered, neither will the sway bar.

not until the axle is centered will the swaybar be centered.
