Voltmeter dropping? Check gauges?

So your prior post is wrong?

I thought it was in 91, bit I only have Renix era jeeps, so I don't keep up and memorize as much on the later jeeps.

Ahh.. crap.. I must have had a brain fart while typing that.

Not to high jack someone post, But mine is close to the same thing and did not want to start a new tread. I have a 92 4.0L. My volt gauge reads 10 volts all the time. I just check at the battery with a DMM and got voltage from 11.6v to 16.1V As it ran it would jump in the range. for the most part it was trying to run at 13.6 to 14.4 but would spike to 16.1V. The Gauge in the jeep never moved. It stayed at 10V. Any ideas?

Ok well quick update, I threw on a new '98 ram alternator and it works like a champ. The old one was making some pretty funny noises even when spun by hand after I took it off. Thanks for all the help guys!
