TLowery04 - Cashion Oklahoma

Storm Pictures.

Total loss on the house, shop, and two barns. lost a handful of cattle and the stock trailer, both the lawn trailer and the gooseneck are accounted for, just waiting to see if insurance is going to total them out or not. The jeep faired well with only a few dents and tons of insulation stuck to it. Something hit the roof and cracked my windsheild, and of course the new fender i JUST put on got dented. The white rhino had a tree land on it. going to need a parts truck for it, atleast the cab is in good shape, i hate wiring. oh and i thought dad said the ford was totaled completely so i bought a '63 j-3000 for $200, just need to find a way to come pick it up. Oh and the ranger was wrapped around a tree.

on the upside thats the first time my neighbors GMC has seen daylight since 1975

Dang! Let us know if you need help with anything.

was reading thru your thread, enjoying the random pics, when i saw your last post.... thats heartbreaking, and to be honest made me realize that these people loosing their homes/sheds/barns are just people like me, loosing jeep parts, that hurts, but loosing the home too? pure heartbreak.

condolences man, hope you have the resources to rebuild...

Yep I have been living with my parents for the last few years while I go back to school and from what I understand the insurance will cover the loss and the house was close to being paid off so that helped too. The plan is as far as I can tell to stay on the land, both parents having sworn to never move again over 20 years ago. They said they would be building the shop back maybe a little bigger and putting a full kitchen and bath in it as well as partitions for a house within. They'll live there while they rebuild the house. As for myself my future is less determinate. I find myself living with my uncle for the time being and working on the farm sun up to sun down trying to get things back in order. Most of my things in the shop I had in storage from my old apartment have been scattered accross three counties but I've found a bit here and there and have been trying to get all of my tools accounted for.

As far as the jeep goes i've rounded up most of the big parts and I don't know if I already posted this or not but I bought a '63 j-3000 3/4 ton. I figure for 200$ if I can't get it running I can sell the engine for that and keep the 44 and 60 combo to go full width; or atleast tell myself that's the plan ;) Unfortunately someone already absconded with the rhino chaser grill and headlamps.

Thanks for the offers of help guys but I woulden't have you drive all the way out here for that. It'll be work no doubt but I think we can get it done if we just work at it every day. There are a few friends locally who have come by a few times to help as well. However we are renting storage units right now for our stuff that was salvagable but if anyone knows of someone selling a 8x20 or 8x40 storage container in the area that isn't double fair value I would appreciate it.

got ahold of the guy with the parts jeep today, he said it was still right where i left it and to just let him know when i wanted to come and get more parts off of it.

+1

on a -1 note though i might add that the neighbor with the two fc-150's that have been in a barn for 20+ years had his barn blow over on them so i dont know what condition they are in as of late. i remember at one point him telling me he had 1 or 2 more engines and some ramsey pto winches in there for them aswell. They are also considering moving back to the city stating they are getting too old to rebuild their home. Wish I could afford the land, but from what I've been able to tell with property prices around here, it will go for more than i could possibly pay.

pictures soon of the back barn, ponds, and all the ATV parts i've found so far.

Well, I'm back at it.

The Jeep has been sitting for Two YEARS!

After the Tornado and everything settled down, I took a job with Vestas American Wind Technology and am now in a traveling position. I'll be in Fort Stockton Texas until August 2014, so I'm hoping that being it's only an 8 and a half hour drive, I can bring my jeep down here to work on on the weekend.

I know for a fact I will need to do a full tune-up.
I will also be installing a set of 6" coils that I bought from Swamprat a while back.
I'll need to buy some new leafs - lca/uca drop brackets - swaybar disconnects - trackbar relocation bracket (might go ahead and get the adjustable) - and shocks.

If I get that far, I'll most likely be in the market for some steel wheels and tires.

OH and I'll be working on re-plumbing the heater core and putting in new vacuum lines.

Well folks, its an old thread but its mine.

have fun out there!

Trent

Cashion? Man I had some times in Cashion back in the day. I'm originally from Crescent and we wouold go to Cashion back in the 80's to try and get beer bought for us. :)

Good luck with the Jeep man.

New Parts rig I picked up off CL today. The wiring is eat up by rats, but I think I can either repair it or buy a harness from the scrap yard IF I can find one that isn't all hacked up.

ALSO - the passenger door lock is froze up, any ideas on how to open it without tearing into the door?

cleaning out the engine compartment, taking stock of broken wires, which can be soldered and have heat shrink put on and which need a full replacement, and taking stock of the condition of the engine compartment in general, found a distributor lower and a coil in the back so if I'm lucky those are new.

pictures to come later.

spent about 4 hours at the junk yard today pulling the wiring harness from an '88. has anyone noticed what looks like duct tape in their loom? I thought mine had been hacked on previously so instead of trying to patch it I just cut everything off that was damaged. Now I'm looking at the one I pulled and realizing I could have probably salvaged it with some bits of wire and a good bit of solder and shrink tube.

phones dead so no pics now, found a tow bar front bumper and some limited 16" rims I want so I'll be going back in the morning.

Pulled wiring diagrams from tom 'oljeep' collins website, hopefully they are correct, I begin re-wiring tomorrow after I finish up my dads truck.

the page with all the schematics on it can be found here:

also found some nifty ZJ gold limited 16" rims today, and a tube stock front bumper with tow bar mounts. I might tow this red jeep with me back to texas and just work on it i n the parking lot of the hotel.

got the '88 parts vehicle running,

here's the resurrection post

I need to figure out what to do about the transmission - it's pretty sluggish.

clean up work tomorrow

could have probably bought a running rig and saved myself a few hours work, but where would the fun be in that?

put four new tires on today. goodyear wranglers from wal-mart. not necessarily wheeling tires, but they'll keep me from having a blow out towing the red jeep around. I was told the cracked and bald michlins were from 2004.

I need to pull transmission solenoids from the junker yard - nobody has any lying around do they?

that's work for another day though.

does anyone on the forum offer free car-faxes anymore? I remember awhile back there was someone who worked at a dealership (they pay a monthly fee instead of piecemeal) who would run vin numbers in a good karma thread. Maybe that was another forum though... Oh well. Brains scattered - gonna get ready to leave corpus tomorrow - taking a week off to get my taxes done and get new insurance etc.

transmission dipstick is broke off at the neck and nobody can find a part number for it. looks like i'm going to the junk yard some time.

I'll have to pick up an extra transmission pan, set of solenoids, and solid passenger side d30 axle to eliminate that dang vacuum disco.
