The Frog Blog

sucks to see it go after all that hard work!

She lives on. In the meantime we have a 119 page blog to look back on! Hopefully, more good memories to come

Kev, why don't you post up your recent incident at Moon Rocks and how you plan to fix your XJ. I'm sure others would benefit from your experience and would love to read up on your awesome rig.

By the way, glad to hear from you. Wish I could have given you my axles, wheels, and tires, but it couldn't be done. At least you'll get the Frog's ConnFerr rack to wear as a hat.

'tis a sad time for the Green Machine, she inflicted some structural damage. I'll post pictures on the blog soon.
On the other hand, since Im picking up the ConnFer rack, mine will be for sale. It will be a nice addition.

We'll have to take both on a trail and see who does better.

Sad to see the frog go man!

I contemplate selling rattletrap every time I see an LJ at work, but it would break my heart.

I was sad about losing some great parts, but the LJ is working out perfectly. I took it on a Boy Scout trip last weekend and loaded more gear in it than I normally do with the XJ. On the way to the camp, I took a detour through the Jawbone OHV area and climbed a steep hill in 4-Lo without having to get out, charge the air tank for the rear ARB and lock the front hubs. Loving the 4:1 transfer case, frame, and simplicity of this Jeep.

I'm adding parts all the time and will be installing an adjustable track bar this week. Rear bumper should be here soon. I'm also a big fan of the BFG KO2 tires that the PO installed. Great on the street and very decent on the trails I've run so far.

I picked up a Trailgater off road trailer from Bear Trailersports last week. This thing is fully welded, powder coated, equipped with a 3500 lb torsion axle, 33" KO2s, recessed LEDs, welded D-rings, 2" rear hitch, tailgate, Lock & Roll hitch, and plenty of other options. I'm having a rack built and will buy a Tepui roof top tent, and am hoping to get a good deal at the vendor show during EJS at the end of the month. The plan is to finish the overland build by next year and tow this to Moab next March.

Bear Trailersports typically sells the base trailer for $3500 on their website, plus wheel, tire, axle, paint, etc upgrades. I paid $2500 including $800 in upgrades, so I believe I got a great deal. I'm heading to Mt Piute this weekend on it's maiden run. I built a utility box to hold fuel, water, and other items and am looking forward to testing it out.

dude thats a steal. thats such a nice trailer.

I'm running trails down here in Moab for Easter Jeep Safari and I just ran into the Frog, my beloved 99 XJ. Kevin, my kid, was following me in his Green Machine and turned around to take some pics. The Frog now sports Utah plates, new leds, and a baby seat, and looks great. I'm bummed that the buyer turned around and resold it and likely made a profit, but at least it appears to have a real owner.

Having a blast down here this year, by the way.

Just a few pics to update the old FB. I've been wheeling local SoCal trails and made a few trips to Moab over the past year, and have been busy building the LJ and off road trailer. I'm getting ready for lift, tires, and shocks sometime in 2017. My son moved down here a few months ago and we've been having fun with the Jeeps. His '01 XJ is still performing great but has a hard time keeping up with my stock Rubi. Hope all is well with the chapter and your beloved XJs.

First pic was taken on Bullfrog in the Johnson Valley area. The rest are from Moab, Panamint Valley, Jawbone, and other local trails.
