I love my rusty's 3" XJ lift. I wish I could afford the full packs. I love DDing on 31s and I wheel with guys on 33" and 35" tires and often I lead. Obviously 31s aren't going to go through the deepest mud hole, but they do some really tough trails pretty darn well. I wouldn't go bigger unless I had another vehicle to drive everyday. Just get lots of skids and 3" is great. You'll be amazed.
Oh, one more thing, if you've got the money, go for some better shocks than the ones with the kit. The ones they give you are OK, but you can get better.
