Another possibility if the geometry on the AMC roller rockers is correct. I have a set of rocker studs that I got with a set of late model Mustang heads. The studs are 5/16 on the bottom and 3/8 on the to and have a hex for tightening. I did some modifying to the hex of the stud by turning the thickness of guide plates off the bottom of the stud. This allowed me to run the studs with guide plates without machining the rocker pedistals. I wonder if the same would work on a 4.0 head. You would likely have VC clearence issues but I think that would be easy enough to remidy.
