I was referring to the front. But I use Prothane progressives front and rear.
The fronts are convoluted hollow cylinders that drop into and are loose inside the front coil springs. As I said, I run about 1.5" free space above them.
The rears bolt onto the frame, replacing the stock bumps. Takes a little filing and grinding of the bracket. They're also available in lengths and I run the same 1.5" free space there as well.
I see no reason you can't run these on a stock truck. But you may want to experiment with the free space to get the ride and performance that suits you.

As to your question of running mismatched materials front and rear, I don't see a problem. Just so both do their job individually.
