Picture from last night

So do we have a culprit? New long arms adjusted too short? Seized up DS? Bearing?

My dad taught me three things when I got my first 4x4.

1 Torque is the poorman's horsepower and it'll serve you right every time.
Doesn't apply here, but I like it.

2 Don't beat your way to work.
Hopefully you have another option for traveling to and from.

3 When it breaks, fix it better.
(UPGRADE!) I know you just got another 231, but can you eliminate the cause?

edit: That is a MFer of a failure. I can't think of a time I've seen or heard of a case do that.

an upgrade is in the works, I'm trying to find a 241. Either that or save for a 4spd atlas with 10:1 :loveu:

Im thinking it was the same culprit Diana and I had last year.......... no SYE and long term beating of the slip yoke into the main shaft cracking the case like an egg. His break looks just like hers did. Mine broke the shaft off inside and left the case intact

Are you thinking this was an issue because you guys didn't have a SYE?

Yep thats a big 10-4. Mine was hopping it in 4 low on a rock face. Axle was wraping and shoved the DL up into the slip yoke, slip yoke bit downward and snapped the main shaft off right at the speedo gear.

Dianas was loading up a long steep hill with failing rear springs, prolly was doing some slamming when the power was constantly changing due to the degree of the long hill climb. Her pics have been taken off of her image list so cant post them up for ya.

I exploded one once...it was on my 77LandCruiser but that was too much power and the result of hooking up Chevy parts to Toyota parts....glad you are ok and kept it on the road man.
