Why must I dodge people coming out the "entrance" door of a store, and have to dodge people coming in the "exit" door of a store?

If there wasn't a median on the highways, I can only assume these people would exit using the on ramps.

So I've been out of town for work the past free weeks. The rental they gave me is a Compass. To sum it up, this thing is awful. No power (2.0 engine in a suv wtf?) Horrible visibility with blind spots everywhere, and an extremely clunky dash. My wife's Kia forte is better than this thing. I'll take my '95 xj with no radio and a door that doesn't close all the way.
