The coverage of this years King of the Hammers race is shaping up to be exceptional. Lessons were learned from last year, plus the tremendous interest in this race has brought about dramatically increased coverage. Pirate 4x4 will have live streaming radio broadcasts everyday of the week, including all day the day of the race. Each race vehicle will be equiped with a radio transponder that will report the position of each car every two minutes. This will all be tracked and reported live by RallyTracker.com and reported on Pirate4x4.com. Also, keep your eyes here on this forum as our progress is reported throughout the day.

Here is the link to the live coverage on Pirate4x4, and an announcement outlining thier coverage. http://www.pirate4x4.com/koh09/

Providing we have the bandwidth to do so, we will also have live webcam feeds of various events/activities throughout the week, including the LCQ, KOH race, and awards. No promises on this one, as the Internet availability is near zero out there. But we are going to do the best we can to bring you as much cool stuff as possible.

Team NAXJA car #51, Dave Taylor, Garry Hall, and Andy Couch, will be compteting in the Last Chance Qualifyer on Thurs, then in the race on Fri if they get in. Team NAXJA car #52, Richard Gauthier (me) and Paul Sinclair, will be in the race on Friday. Many SoCal NAXJA folks will be out there working in the pits, working as volunteers in the race, and watching.

This is going to be GOOD! :D

The rig is done, and I'm loading up my gear. A few minor things still to be done when we get there, but we'll have more time then than I have now. It can race the way it is.

Major things that we've done are the new ORI stuts, new 4.6L stroker motor, changed the gears from 4.56 to 5.13, upped the fuel capacity from 12 gal to 28 gal (16 gal tank stays and 12 gal tank comes off), added more safety items to comply with this years rules, added cutting brakes, added a spare tire mount (removable), installed a race radio, beefed up all the suspension mounts. It also has newly rebuilt CTM axle joints, all new ball joints, a new muffler that should run cooler, new skins and stickers, plus numerous repairs and upgrades. We've been working on it virtually non-stop for 2.5 months. The rig has been almost completely disassembled and put back together.

Many, many thanks to all the SoCal folks who have helped and contributed in one way or another in getting the rig ready to race, and who are coming out to work in the pits at the race. Cal and Mike really stepped up, both have a couple of weekends coming up to work on the rig, and along with Russ have many hours into the engine build.
