How-to: timing chain replacement (part 1)

well.....how did it turn out? You either got it on, or are a frozen block of ice with a 3/4" wrench sticking out under your XJ by now. Should we call 9-1-1? :laugh:

sorry for the late reply :eeks1:. i have one thing to tell you, and that... is i owe you a beer :cheers:

it worked like a dream and has solved the problem of a belt being eaten every 2 weeks.
 
so the key was causing you the grief, then? Glad you got it figured out.

it turns out i needed to file ever so slightly away at the top of the key and give it a good love tap to go into place. im doing looking foward to doing another HB this spring, this time its on my own rig, not the wifey's
