Finally got around to start replacing the Flexplate on the 95 XJ today. The starter froze up last night (probably a blessing in disguise after you see the picts) and had to have it towed back home, no biggie there. Figured it was time to put the new flexplate on I ordered 2 weeks ago.
Whoever owned this thing last should find a new mechanic. There were only 3 loose bolts holding the tranny to the engine (spent my hard earned cash on the inverted torx set I didn't need to). All 3 were about 1/8" to 1/4" out. I have to assume this is why the flexplate cracked.
If I try I could probably pop the center section out quite easily.
