Bumper Build Question

If I can have a minute here..........Detours has developed the answer to the
low budget winch mount, its safe, secure...and affordable....if I may, please
visit http://www.detoursusa.com/xjbackbone.php , it was developed to use your
existing bumper skin, or to build your own bumper from it. Its been proven
beyond tough snapping winch cables twice...(yes, very bad pull lines but at
4am you take what you can get).....I'll leave it at that.
Consider it a base one can build from if they choose, but more importantly
its best just to know there ARE alternative mounting systems out there that
are not only SAFE, but also offer recovery points and a steering box brace
at a low cost.......you break it....send it back, we want to know why and you
get a new one........period.

Sorry, I tend to stay away from promoting, but when the shoe fits..........I'll
send you a shoe that'll stop your biatch'en.

Nice. These plans have been in the file section of the MADXJ Group for 2 Years. I moved them to my server so that those without MADXJ access could read them.
Enjoy: http://www.madcitycherokee.org/projects/winchadapterplans.pdf
Sure, it's not as refined, but it works.

You don't know what I know, or have seen, nice having you judge me ;)

You're right in that I don't know your experience base or what you've seen, but hold off on the judgement accusation. I apologize if I came off in a way in which you thought I was judging your character, that's was not my intent. I am judging the content of your post - which is just that, the content of your post.

I felt that if someone with very little offroading experience was reading your post, they might assume that it was okay to just bolt a tow hook to the stock bumper and be fine. My picture was to illustrate that it is unsafe, and my advice to stop posting was more of a reality check than anything else. Once again, my apologies if any offenses were taken.

Alright, I'm done with my defense and I hope that all of our panties are sitting pretty (mine included) :D

thats how i built mine except i went all the way to the track bar (i have a drop mount) and welded it to the track bar bracket. stronngest way to do it easily on an xj, very cool somone is offering a kit.

Unless I'm reading that wrong, it looks like he's only got that mounted to the stock bumper mounting bolts, three-per-side. Isn't that what he says?

Robert

yeah but he has them over the stock tow hook brackets. so the bumper still ties in with all those bolts in the uniframe too, so i bet it wont be an issue. using JUST the three stock bolts is stupid.
