Bang on starter?

so if the belts turning than the engine is turning over,right? which would rule out the starter keep us posted

Remove the starter and take it to a shop, in one day the guy will rebuild it for u including a new solenoid.
Should cost 60-70$ and will last a while if done properly.

Not sure if you have any Advance Auto Parts stores around you but they do carry AC Delco starters for around $100.

Cannot beat that quality.

2000 XJ Sport No Start Final Report:

Valve in oil pump was stuck and caused pressure to build in oil filter (to the point it blew off when the engine was revved). Engine was not getting any lift causing no start. Replacement of oil pump, fie quarts of oil, labor, TAX (in Manhattan) = $480.00

Ouch.

I hope it is up and running for a good while now. The truck knew I had gotten a tax rebate check and wanted its cut.
