I love your build/work... looks similar to my Silver/Gray '01 XJ...

I've been wanting to install one of these Gentex compass/temp mirror's for a long time but haven't had a chance to 'jump in' and do it. Can you pass along specifics on this? Where you bought it, how much, how hard to wire, etc??? I would appreciate the info.

Weekend project:
Shims for pinion angle
Rear Bilsteins

IMG_1968_zps5d9ca108.jpg

Had to pry up this nonsense to get to my shocks...
IMG_1972_zpsc1861b7f.jpg

Shocks mounted.. I wanted to tack weld these nuts.. but my buddy with the welder was busy.. so they stayed like this.

All sealed up with the dynamat from Eastwood

I had some extra jute in the garage so I cut a piece and layed it down

Shocks all mounted up, 4º Shims are in place
IMG_1973_zps852d72fd.jpg

Here's the new pinion angle.. it's actually at 3º. I was at 7º before I was getting a little vibes at 30 and 60 mph. Its a LOT better now, but I think I should have used 5º shims to get it at 2º. I might try that some day to see how that does.

Bilstein vs JK shocks
IMG_1970_zps1f449ed3.jpg

JK's are a softer shock. They rode nice, but the 5100's are SOOOO much better.

I also hooked up the rear sway bar. I live on windy roads and like to speed so there. Some day I'll look into quick disco's for both the front and rear...

Super easy install on these, and you can pick the mirrors up from the JY for cheap i got my mirror for about 6$ from PNP. A guy on jeepforum does a super detailed write up on how to do it. I would say tops, it would take 1.5 hours to install.

Good looking build man, looks clean. :D

Re: 2000 XJ - Kaboom!

I have 2 little ones, ages 5 and 7 and their big heads flop over the back seat. So naturally to avoid teh whiplash, I installed headrests out of a ZJ.

Add a 1/2" spacer on top of this to get them flush with the back seat.

Re: 2000 XJ - Kaboom!

Where did you get the black bracket for the headrests? I chopped up a ZJ front seat to scavenge the bracket for mine and it's much different that what I see on yours. Your setup is bolt-on, which makes it a nice easy mod for those without welder/skills.

I got them off ebay... seller said he pulled them from the rear seats of a ZJ. Though, I think the longer black cylinders you used might work better than what I'm using.
